Stratos 2.1.23
Stratos 2.1.23
Released 2026-10-25. The phone opens the same map as the PC with your aircraft on it, the flown trail eases through turns, and the flight-plan card shows the cruise level and opens your SimBrief OFP.
New features
- Opening Stratos on a phone now hands it to the map your PC serves, which pairs itself and shows live telemetry: no code, no address to type and no settings.
- The flight-plan card has an OFP action that opens the SimBrief document for the imported plan. When SimBrief publishes no PDF for a plan, its OFP text is shown in the Flight summary instead of a dead button.
- The compact flight-plan card states the planned cruise level (CRZ FL350) and the distance remaining, so neither needs the card expanded.
Improvements
- A flown trail is drawn through rounded corners: a turn curves instead of kinking at the sample rate. The recorded positions are not moved, and the phone's map uses the same curve.
Bug fixes
- The bridge the desktop app starts now listens on the local network, so a phone can reach it; one-tap pairing previously answered that the bridge was reachable only on this PC.
- The packaged bridge now carries the pages it serves, so a phone opening the page the PC provides no longer lands on a 404.
- The phone no longer claims live simulator data while none is arriving: it says which part it is waiting for.
- SimBrief responses that state the planned level as an initial cruise altitude now supply the cruise level instead of leaving it blank.
Stratos 2.1.22
Stratos 2.1.22
Released 2026-10-24. A calmer, more professional Stratos: five destinations on every page, a real flight-plan card in place of the pencil, and SimBrief SID and STAR that finally import.
New features
- Five top-level destinations on every page — Flight Deck, Flight Planning, Logbook, Explore and Profile — with Live, Charts, Weather and the data pack one tap away in the map's tools menu.
- The flight-plan card replaces the pencil control: callsign, aircraft, departure and arrival, SID and STAR with their planned runways, cruise, distance and time.
- It expands in place for route, alternate, weather, weights, fuel, passengers, cargo and live progress, and remembers whether it is open.
- Explore gathers Weather, Airports, Charts, Statistics and Live in one hub, linked from its own strip on the Explore page.
- Settings documents the palette on an aviation colour board: cyan, violet, amber, white, charcoal, grey, red and green, each with its HEX and its job, beside real controls and map symbols.
- SimBrief SID and STAR now import from the fields SimBrief actually writes, including plans with Detailed Navlog off, and a shortened ident is restored to the full published name when the plan's IFPS route confirms it.
Improvements
- The card keeps the SID above its departure runway and the STAR above its arrival runway, even while the rest of it is minimized.
- The map rail and every page bar share one navigation list, with labels and tooltips shortened to match.
- The flight summary prints ICAO codes instead of airport objects, and a detected callsign takes precedence over the plan's.
Bug fixes
- A SimBrief plan no longer imports with no SID or STAR: they are read from
general, where SimBrief writes them. - A plan without navlog fixes still imports its SID, STAR and runways and keeps the current route, instead of failing the whole import.
- The weather search no longer pushes its Search button off a phone screen, and the toolbar no longer overflows at 390 px.
- The Live page marks Explore as its section instead of leaving the bottom bar with no current item.
Interface
- Selected waypoints and the night accent now use the exact violet and cyan the colour board documents.
- The flight-plan card uses the shell's panel styling, with a compact summary line and a single control to expand or minimize it.
Compatibility and important notices
- No storage format change: a plan stored by 2.1.21 gains its SID and STAR from its own route text the next time it is opened.
Stratos 2.1.21
Stratos 2.1.21
Released 2026-10-24. A phone finds the simulator in one tap, its map shows nearby traffic with the paths Stratos actually recorded, and TOC, TOD and SID/STAR follow the planned route.
New features
- One tap connects a phone: it finds the PC on the network, pairs itself and reconnects after a Wi-Fi change or a bridge restart. No QR code and no address to type; networks that block multicast keep the relay.
- The phone's live map shows nearby aircraft, from VATSIM and from the traffic the bridge already polls, behind a Traffic layer button. Tap one for its altitude, speed, heading, distance and its recorded path.
- A clicked aircraft's trail is the path Stratos recorded, kept for 45 minutes in the bridge's store: it survives a reload and matches on the PC and the phone, and a relayed phone gets it too.
- The flown path is drawn as a trajectory coloured by height above ground, white on the ground through blue, green, yellow and orange to magenta at the flight levels, for your own aircraft and for any traffic you select.
- SID and STAR paths follow the published legs from the runway to the procedure's last fix, from the simulator's CIFP data or the bundled FAA dataset, adding only the legs the plan does not draw.
- TOC and TOD are placed on the planned route itself, calculated from the cruise level, the climb and descent profile and the constraints available, and they move when the cruise level or route changes.
Improvements
- Waypoint markers are separated by meaning, SID, STAR, VOR, en-route fix, airport, TOC and TOD, and a selected point turns purple with a heavier ring on both mouse and touch.
- The aircraft card detects a registration when the feed does not report one, shows a verified photo for it, and collapses to a strip keeping SID and STAR with the departure and arrival runways beneath.
- A trail states how many positions it holds and where they came from, and the phone names the bridge or the relay.
- Procedure data is cached, traffic polling stops while its layer is hidden, and a phone on the relay reuses the desktop's traffic list instead of fetching a second feed.
Bug fixes
- TOC and TOD no longer appear at an arbitrary point: they are interpolated along the ordered route legs and kept inside the segment they belong to.
- A no-position sample, a duplicate or an out-of-order one can no longer bend a traffic trail.
- The phone's status line reports Connecting, Connected, Reconnecting and Disconnected from the actual socket instead of staying on its last label.
Performance
- The bridge posts only the trail samples the relay has not seen, at most 400 points every 15 seconds, and stops when the simulator is idle.
Interface
- Traffic is drawn as small heading glyphs with the selected aircraft painted last, so a neighbour cannot cover it.
Compatibility and important notices
- The relay gained /api/traffic. An older relay answers 404 and a hosted phone falls back to VATSIM traffic with no relay trails; desktop builds before this version cannot post traffic to it.
Stratos 2.1.20
Stratos 2.1.20
Released 2026-10-23. The route is drawn with chart symbols, long legs carry their heading and distance, and map labels are set in a chart typeface.
New features
- Route points carry a symbol by meaning: a crosshair for an en-route fix, a star on an airway, a triangle for a SID, a diamond for a STAR, a ring for an airport, amber for a VOR, pink for an NDB, a hexagon otherwise.
- TOC and TOD appear on the plan from the altitudes it already carries, with the cruise level beside them; nothing is added to the route.
- Every leg of 50 nm or more shows its distance and initial heading on a small tag at the midpoint.
- The aircraft card works out a registration the feed did not report, from the simulator's aircraft title, a Mode S address or a VATSIM callsign, and labels it as detected.
Improvements
- Airport, waypoint, navaid and traffic labels are set in the shell's condensed technical face with slight tracking, so idents stay readable while covering less of the map.
- Waypoint symbols sit a step above the route band, so a fix reads as a mark on the line rather than a thicker part of it.
- Labels give way instead of overprinting: each is checked against the ones already placed this frame, and a leg tag is dropped rather than laid over a name.
Bug fixes
- The desktop build could not reach the registration database because hexdb.io was missing from its CORS allowlist.
- A build with no registration lookup route said the registration did not exist; it now says the lookup is unavailable there.
Interface
- Distance and heading sit horizontally on a tag beside the leg, held clear of the course, instead of being rotated along it.
Stratos 2.1.19
Stratos 2.1.19
Released 2026-10-23. The aircraft card now tells a missing photo route apart from a registration that has no photo.
Improvements
- The card separates three answers: a photo, no published photo for that registration, and a deployment that cannot look photos up at all.
Bug fixes
- A build without the photo route said no photo was published for the registration; it now says the lookup is unavailable there instead of making a claim it cannot check.
Stratos 2.1.18
Stratos 2.1.18
Released 2026-10-23. One aircraft card with a spotter photo of its registration, drag it where you want and expand it for the rest.
New features
- Selecting an aircraft opens one card on the left: a spotter photo of its registration, the callsign, type, altitude, speed, heading and vertical speed. The duplicate panel on the right is gone.
- The card drags by its header, stays where you put it, and expands for registration, type, source, position, trail and the altitude profile.
- The registration is read from the ADS-B feed, or from the simulator for your own aircraft, and matched to a published photo.
Improvements
- A registration with no published photo says so, with the aircraft type, instead of showing an unrelated airframe.
- Track, Center and Clear trail moved into the card, so following an aircraft no longer needs a second panel.
Bug fixes
- The aircraft subtitle no longer repeats the type and registration, and names the live feed the position came from.
- VATSIM pilots report no registration, and the card now says it was not reported rather than leaving a blank line.
Interface
- Every photo credits its photographer and links to the photo page on Planespotters, whose terms ask for both.
Compatibility and important notices
- Photos load through the app's own /api/photo route, which the local dev server also serves; the desktop build supplies the header the photo service requires.
Stratos 2.1.17
Stratos 2.1.17
Released 2026-10-23. Live VATSIM traffic, a flight plan you can edit on its own map, and a flight overview split into tabs.
New features
- Traffic source in Map layers: VATSIM shows pilots online now with callsign, type, altitude and speed, next to the existing live ADS-B feeds; an airport panel also names the controllers online for that airport.
- The route planner's map now shows the plan: select a waypoint or the leg between two of them for its coordinates, altitude, distances and connected legs, then Move up, Move down, Direct or Delete it, or drag to move it.
- Flight overview is split into Overview, Route, Flight data and Weather, with the aircraft identified by type and matched to a silhouette where artwork exists.
- SimBrief is connected once: Settings saves the Pilot ID or username and every import reuses it.
Improvements
- Live ADS-B works from a local copy of the app: npm run dev serves it and fetches the feeds server-side, so the browser's cross-origin rules no longer block them.
- Map layers offers only the traffic sources that answer. Volanta, ElevateX and Flightradar24 were removed instead of sitting there with no data.
Bug fixes
- The first ADS-B mirror was read with the wrong key, so its aircraft were thrown away and every poll fell through to a slower fallback.
- VATSIM pilots appeared only after a delayed retry because the first poll ran before the feed parser had loaded.
- The corner traffic badge said 'aircrafts' for a count of aircraft.
- The desktop build could not read VATSIM's live feed or one ADS-B mirror because those hosts were missing from its CORS allowlist.
Interface
- The corner badge counts aircraft or pilots according to the source in use, and names it in the tooltip.
Other changes
- npm run dev starts a local server with the same traffic proxy the hosted build uses; a plain static server still serves the files but cannot reach the ADS-B feeds.
Stratos 2.1.16
Stratos 2.1.16
Released 2026-10-21. The flight plan now lives on the Flight Deck map.
New features
- The planned route draws on the Flight Deck map as soon as it exists, fitted into view and labelled, instead of appearing only on a separate planning map.
- The route has its own layer toggle, so it can be hidden while keeping airports, navaids and traffic on screen.
Improvements
- The map and the planner share one active route: adding or clearing waypoints on the map updates the plan, and a route edited in the planner appears on the map without pressing Send to map.
Bug fixes
- A route opened on the map is zoomed to fit, so it no longer loads correctly and still sits off the edge of the last view.
Interface
- The planner button is now Show on Flight Deck, because the route is already on the map.
v2.1.15
Stratos 2.1.15
Released 2026-10-21. Release notes written for readers, and every release now proves its own Windows update path.
New features
- Release notes can be written by hand for a version and are validated against the same schema the app reads, so an update describes what actually changed instead of repeating commit subjects.
Improvements
- Every published release now runs the Windows update test automatically: it installs the previous build, lets it update itself to the new one, and checks the installed version.
- The release manifest also carries the hand-written notes for older versions, so a build that skips several releases still shows the full history.
v2.1.14
Stratos 2.1.14
Released 2026-10-21. 1 new feature.
New features
- Ship the full Stratos upgrade with an update path that can be proven.
Other changes
- Make the chart browser check runnable from a fresh checkout.
