Draftor is an offline writing device built around a microcontroller, a reflective LCD, a Bluetooth keyboard, and local TF card storage. It doesn't need an internet connection, AI, or cloud services.
It is a machine for writing, not another all-purpose PDA.
Draftor（草稿机）是一台基于单片机的离线写作设备，使用反射式液晶屏、蓝牙键盘和 TF 卡存储文字，不依赖网络、AI 或云端服务。
它是一台用来写东西的机器，而不是全能掌上电脑。
This Alpha brings together the writing application, bgIME (Big Goose Input Method Engine), dictionaries, fonts, complete Draftor-owned source code, and device-tested firmware.
这是 Draftor 第一次完整公开写作程序、bgIME（大鹅输入法）、词库、字体、自有源码及经过实机验证的固件。

Chinese & English Input / 中英文输入
English, Full Pinyin (Quanpin), Xiaohe Shuangpin, and Wubi 86. Chinese output supports Simplified, Traditional, and selected variant characters.
支持英文、全拼、小鹤双拼和五笔86，以及简体字、繁体字和部分异体字输出。
Horizontal & Vertical Writing / 横排与竖排
Two writing layouts sharing the same document text. Switching layouts doesn't require converting or recreating the document.
横排与竖排共用同一份文档正文，切换布局不需要转换或重新建立文档。
Document Management / 文档管理
Create, edit, save, reopen, and rename documents. Chinese input is also available when renaming files.
支持新建、编辑、保存、重新打开和重命名文档，文件改名时也可以使用中文输入法。
USB Document Transfer / USB 文档交换
Export the current document as DOCUMENT.TXT through a read-only virtual USB drive, or import TXT files as new drafts through a temporary Inbox.
通过只读虚拟 USB 磁盘导出当前文档的 DOCUMENT.TXT 快照，或使用临时 Inbox 从电脑导入 TXT，创建新的草稿。
Writing and USB document transfer work without Wi-Fi or a companion application.
写作及 USB 文档交换均不需要 Wi-Fi 或专门的配套应用程序。

Use files from the same release. Do not mix firmware, dictionaries or build materials from different versions.
请使用同一版本的配套文件，不要混用不同版本的固件、词库和构建材料。
For installation, start with the Firmware and Resources archives. Building from source requires the additional BuildInputs archive and the specified toolchain.
如需安装，请先下载 Firmware 和 Resources。自行编译还需要 BuildInputs 和指定版本的工具链。
The release archives are versioned snapshots. Documentation on the repository's main branch may receive later updates.

Hardware & Limitations / 硬件与版本限制
The complete Alpha firmware targets ESP32-S3 N16R8 (Thick), using an Osptek ST7306 reflective display, a Bluetooth keyboard, and TF card storage.
本次完整 Alpha 固件适用于 ESP32-S3 N16R8（Thick），使用鱼鹰 ST7306 反射屏、蓝牙键盘及 TF 卡存储。
The standalone battery power module is still under development and is not included in this release. The current prototype requires external power.
独立电池供电模块尚在开发中，本次发行尚未包含该模块。目前原型机需要外部供电。
A complete writing firmware for Raspberry Pi Pico 2 W (Thin) is not included in this release. The ST7306 display driver and demos remain available for Pico 2 W and ESP32-S3.
Pico 2 W（Thin） 的完整写作固件暂未包含在本次发行中。此前公开的 ST7306 独立显示驱动及示例 仍可用于 Pico 2 W 和 ESP32-S3。
This Is an Alpha / 这仍然是 Alpha
The main input, editing, saving and USB transfer workflows have passed selected tests on real hardware. However, long-duration operation, unexpected power loss and extreme memory conditions have not been fully validated.
中文输入、编辑、文档保存和 USB 交换等主要功能已经通过部分实机测试，但长时间运行、意外断电和极限内存工况尚未得到充分验证。
If you plan to write important documents, use a stable external power supply and keep regular backups.
如果准备用它写重要文稿，请使用稳定的外部电源，并定期导出和备份文档。

New Draftor-owned source code, including bgIME Core, is released under the Apache License 2.0.

Technology related to shared stable lexeme identities used by bgIME is the subject of a Chinese invention patent application. The patent filing documents are not included in this repository.
