GnomeClipNotes 1.3.0
What’s New
Library
- Optional categories and subcategories, independent of folders. Manage names
and ordering in Settings; assign or remove a category from a card's menu.
Subcategories can be labels or saved questions. - Independent per-item comments with a card shortcut for editing existing
comments. Comments and categories have separate default-off switches in
Settings → Comments & Categories; disabling them hides controls, not data. - Filter by category, subcategory or comment text, including across All Items
and bulk selection. Search within category dropdowns narrows choices live. - Collection and category tags share a subtle, noninteractive style. Long names
use the available card width without widening the grid; full names have tooltips.
Export and data
- Both collection and selected-item Markdown exports include categories,
subcategories and comments, even when technical metadata is disabled. - Removing categories preserves notes and comments; moving items preserves
their annotations. Combine creates a new unclassified note. History retention
is unchanged by classification. - Database schema upgrades automatically to version 3. Earlier app versions
cannot open the upgraded database; keep a pre-upgrade database backup if a
downgrade may be needed. Export is not a database backup.
Known issue
- Previously observed transient Library selection/paging inconsistencies remain
unresolved. Narrow pages can also require scrolling. This release does not
claim to fix these observations; cancel selection if its count looks wrong.
GnomeClipNotes 1.2.0
Library
- Show collection labels in All Items and per-collection counts before bulk move
or deletion. Block stale bulk actions during search updates, recover empty
later pages after mutations, and remove obsolete Library source filters. - Explicit multi-selection with checkboxes, cross-page Select all and bulk
Combine, Copy, Export, Move and confirmed Delete. Narrow layouts keep Combine
visible and move Export/Delete into More Actions. - All Items provides search and filtering across collections. Combine creates a
new retained note in chronological order and separately offers to delete originals.
Known issue
- During exploratory Library use, a temporarily inconsistent selection count
and underfilled pages were observed. A reliable reproduction is not yet known;
reopening Library restored normal behavior. If the selected count looks wrong,
cancel selection before performing a bulk action. These observations remain
unresolved, not claimed as fixed by the search/paging improvements.
