LUNA AiBridge Host v0.9.0 (Prototype)
Pre-releaseLUNA AiBridge Host runs on your Windows PC and gives astronomy web apps one common place to run and one common way to talk to a telescope mount (LX200 serial/TCP, ASCOM Alpaca, INDI, N.I.N.A., or a built-in simulated mount). It is the PC counterpart of the AiBridge ESP32 firmware. Optionally, an AI assistant (claude.ai, Grok) can write and test apps for you.
⚠️ PROTOTYPE v0.9.0 — under development. This is an early prototype released to gather feedback. It may not work correctly, including in ways that can move your real telescope mount. Stay with the equipment, keep STOP within reach, and be ready to cut power. Unattended operation is not supported. Feedback is very welcome — please open an Issue.
What's inside the zip
Two .exe files, kept together in one folder:
AiBridgeHost.exe— the Host: web server, apps, mount connection. Works alone (double-click; your browser opens athttp://localhost:8080/).AiBridgeHostConnect.exe— adds claude.ai / Grok access (sign-in with a PIN, a temporary tunnel, and the approval screen). It starts the Host for you.
Plus README.md, LICENSE and THIRD_PARTY_LICENSES.md.
Highlights
- Apps are single HTML files (150 KB or less) in the
appsfolder; a common API works with every supported mount. - Apps can also reach ASCOM Alpaca and INDI devices on your network through the Host — focuser, filter wheel, and any other property.
- Included apps: the AiBridge star chart (English; Japanese edition
starchart_ja), Alpaca / INDI device finders, and two small sample apps (a read-only position monitor and a control panel) to copy and modify. - Experimental AI app-building: the AI can copy, write, test-run (on a simulated mount only, with screenshots) and fix apps. You can watch it work live on the Host screen (a view-only page with the test screenshots and button positions). Before it may touch equipment you must accept a warning, and every GOTO, sync and settings change needs your approval, every time, on the Connect screen.
- Web pages from other sites are refused; an optional PIN protects access from other devices.
- Host screen in English, 日本語 and 简体中文 (the Chinese translation is machine-made and not yet reviewed).
How to use
- Unzip and double-click
AiBridgeHost.exe. In the Mount section choose your mount — or Simulated mount for a first try. - For AI access: double-click
AiBridgeHostConnect.exeinstead. First time only, press the button on its start screen to download cloudflared (about 55 MB, from Cloudflare's official releases). Then register the URL as a custom connector in claude.ai / Grok and enter the PIN shown. - To stop, use Quit AiBridge Host on the Host screen (or Quit on the Connect start screen).
See the README for details, including what the AI can and cannot do.
Known limitations
- Verified only on the author's setup: an NS-5000 mount over serial / LX200, plus the Alpaca, INDI and N.I.N.A. simulators. Other mounts and real INDI hardware are untested.
- The AI features have been checked in pieces but not yet re-verified end to end with this build; Grok's handling of screenshots is unconfirmed; usage limits on free plans are unknown.
- Apps run outside the approval system. An app you open can send GOTO and other commands, can reach the Host's admin functions, and can send data to the internet. Use only apps you trust or have read.
- The mount connection through Alpaca / INDI / N.I.N.A. covers the basics (position, GOTO, sync, stop, tracking, park). Apps can also drive Alpaca and INDI focusers and filter wheels and read or write other device properties (tried with simulators only). Not supported yet: camera images, autoguiding, and N.I.N.A.'s own camera / focuser / guider / sequences.
- Windows only. The exe is not code-signed, so Windows SmartScreen may show an "unknown publisher" warning (More info → Run anyway).
- Freeware; the source code is not published. See
LICENSE.
Feedback is very welcome — especially from OnStep, INDI and Alpaca users, and anyone trying the AI features.
