Win10 Left-Click Start Menu crashes explorer

Describe the bug
Left-click start menu button crashes explorer. I've changed Menu button to classic, reinstalled,rebooted etc, no joy.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Left-click start menu

Expected behavior
Not crashing explorer

Additional context
Interesting after troubleshooting this, I learned I was using "Classic Shell", ironically, uninstalled then installed "Open Shell"
but the issue remains. so must be related to my Win version and some update that occurred.

OK, I found it!
so I had a shortcut pinned to the taskbar:
UserAssist: '\\123.123.123.244\shared\myapps\App - Shortcut.lnk', 1, 0.100
Which is pointing to an IP that is only valid when vpn is running.
Fired up logging and immediately noticed the last line in StartMenuLog.txt was the one from above.
Not sure if this can be fixed or not, and also not sure I waited for a timeout before restarting explorer.
Going to close this, lesson learned. So glad I figured this out, because I've grown so used to this App.
