Each symbol has a definition of how it is drawn, with one or more parts, each part having a color code. If you look at the table of color codes, you will see which goes on top. Some color codes cut away all colors below them. This system often cleverly provides convenient and nice effects, such as when one large road crosses another. At other times the results are not desired, but to try to fit it to one's own idea of "just right" can waste time. |

Here is the relevant IOF document. The cliffs should be on top of the contours, so check the color order of your symbol set [and pray that changing it won't evoke total chaos]. |

In OOM, what determines the sequence/priority of map symbols? Symbols are printed on top of each other, but what determines which symbol is on top and which come under and in which order?
I work with a map and e.g. the symbol for inpassable cliff comes UNDER the contour lines! Can I change the order? Is the order defined in the symbol set? Can/should I manipulate it? (My map has been imported from OCAD, can that cause the problem?)
