is there a link to download the AS installer (if it exists) or e.g. a .zip which is to be unpacked to a AS directory?
I can't see any...
– Or is the AS treated now as "download-source-and-build-the-binary-yourself"?

@CertHaramas However, please keep in mind that it is not portable. All of the config is stored in the registry.

I introduce portability in Samandarin v0.6. Now the user can choose whether to have the configuration saved in the Registry as before, or in a file. The file is .reg, it maintains exactly the same structure as the Registry.

Thanks for making it portable.
So all the config is stored in the file config.reg, exactly in the form in which it is stored in the registry. Interesting idea, I've not seen this before.

The main reason for choosing a .reg file is that Salamander already has most of the required infrastructure in src/reglib: it can parse .reg text into an in-memory registry tree and dump that tree back to a .reg file.

This makes .reg the safest and fastest first portable-storage option because:

• it preserves the existing Registry-like configuration structure,
• it supports native Registry value types such as REG_SZ, REG_DWORD, REG_BINARY, REG_QWORD, REG_MULTI_SZ, and REG_EXPAND_SZ,
• it minimizes risk of losing plugin or binary configuration values,
• it reuses existing import/export logic,
• it requires less new code than inventing a JSON/YAML/other format,
• it keeps migration between Windows Registry and file storage straightforward.

In short: .reg gives Salamander a portable configuration file while staying fully compatible with the current Registry-based model.
