What is missing?

The registration flow doesn't contain password authentication as an option.

Why?

OpenUserJS is meant to be the more open and private alternative to GreasyFork yet it forces its users to tie their social media accounts to it. Make that make sense.

This also inconveniences the users who care about their security and use a password manager: am I supposed to simply memorize if I tied my OpenUserJS account to Reddit or Steam? Or create a note inside the login entry and manually check every time?

Well you didn't do a search very well... however the results are a bit vague so I'll explain it from my perspective.

#1 (comment) and #1 (comment) is what I've found here. In private, at least once, it has generally been that we don't add any auths per @sizzlemctwizzle which would indeed include his approval for an email system and user/pass setup... which of course costs more for hosting and data transfer.

Me personally I'm happy at the moment with a OAuth provider as it's usually quite secure compared to user/pass and way more convenient than handling a 2fa system along with email and the associated traffic.

I think I can confidently say that from the posts referenced user/pass was to be avoided except for a last resort. Since I usually handle the VPS.... but the funding comes from the top founder.... I'd have to say it's probably not planned due to financial constraints at bare minimum.

We appreciate your suggestion though. I'm going to close this and if sizzle wants to reopen this we'll have to have some heavy talks about more spending with it.

Revisiting this part for you.... you apparently haven't used the default preferred authentication value in the drop down. Perhaps you should try that before you assume... your question would definitely appear to be your own self imposed difficulty.

I don't understand what you're saying. How does using the default help? Defaults can change.
