Preview snapshot for players who want the newest features before the next stable release. Expect rough edges; your save files stay compatible whenever possible, but back them up first.

Changes since the previous snapshot

Added

  • The route report now tells you where you are. Press R, or D-pad up on a controller, to hear the current road and direction, state, nearest named city, checkpoint, or road stop, along with your progress and upcoming guidance.
  • Keep speed assistance active across the whole job. Pressing K now starts one automatic speed-control session: the speed keeper handles facility roads, gate queues, work zones, and congestion, then adaptive cruise takes over on the open road. If started during the deadhead, it pauses through pickup check-in and loading, survives a save there, and resumes once the loaded truck is rolling. It restores your earlier cruise target or uses the new road's limit, and switches back to the keeper for the next restricted zone. Braking outside that planned pickup, a hazard, or pressing K again cancels the whole session so it cannot restart unexpectedly. Plus and Minus adjust the remembered open-road target in either mode.

Changed

  • Each truck you own now keeps its own fuel, damage, tire wear, and road grime. Refueling, repairing, or dirtying one truck no longer affects the others, and a newly bought truck arrives with a full tank and a clean bill of health. Switching trucks no longer moves fuel between them. Careers from older versions are updated automatically the first time they load, and the game tells you once that the updated save can no longer be opened by older versions: the truck you were driving keeps its condition, and your other trucks start fueled and fresh. Back up your career save before opening it in this version. If the conversion causes a problem, include both the original backup and the updated save with your issue report.

Fixed

  • The game no longer crashes when it is installed in a protected folder. If you put Freight Fate somewhere Windows guards, such as Program Files, the game could not write next to itself and would crash the moment it tried to save, often right as you reached a facility. Freight Fate now notices when its own folder is read only and keeps your saves in your personal user folder instead, so the game saves and plays normally wherever you install it. Saves that are already beside the game are still used as before.
