Preview snapshot for players who want the newest features before the next stable release. Expect rough edges; your save files stay compatible whenever possible, but back them up first.
Changes since the previous snapshot
Added
- Map stops now open a full details view, and you can plan your next stop. On the driving Map screen, pressing Enter on a stop now opens its details instead of repeating the line: the exit, distance, what it offers, parking, and an estimate of how long it will take to reach at your pace, including whether you would arrive before your next break, driving limit, or duty window. From there, plan to stop at it: approach announcements and the upcoming and clock readouts then call it your planned stop, so you know exactly when to signal for the exit. Plans can be canceled or replaced any time, survive saving and resuming, and clear themselves when you pull in or drive past.
Changed
- The drivers board now checks in a little less often. With online presence on, the game reports you every ninety seconds instead of every minute, and the board waits four minutes before it calls a driver gone. You still appear the moment you go on duty; a driver who closes the game may sit on the board about a minute longer than before.
- Career saves are now sealed files instead of plain text. Saved careers use a new packed format that ordinary text editors cannot open, and every save is signed by your own installation. Your existing careers convert automatically the first time they load, and a copy of the old file is kept beside the new one in case you ever roll back to an older version of the game. A save that was changed outside the game, or copied over from another computer, still loads and plays normally, but the game tells you once and marks that career as modified; shared features may not accept a modified career. Thanks to nromey, PR #96.
- Moving a planned stop now asks first, and each stop only cancels its own plan. A stop's details screen shows the cancel option only when that stop is the one you planned. Choosing "Plan to stop" while another stop is already planned now tells you which stop is planned and how far ahead it is, and asks whether to move your plan here before changing it.
- Air pressure now bleeds down while the truck is parked with its engine off. After a full night's sleep, you must start the engine and rebuild air before releasing the parking brake instead of waking to fully charged tanks.
Fixed
- Cloud Backup works again on test builds. Careers from a recent test build were being turned away with a message about the backup being unreadable. Nothing was wrong with those careers: the game had changed what it records about each truck, and the backup service was still expecting the older shape. Both sides now agree, and they are kept in step automatically so this cannot drift apart again. Released builds were never affected.
- A career carried between computers can lose its "modified" mark. Moving a save to another machine marks it as changed outside the game, because the new machine cannot recognise the old one's signature. When you restore that career from Cloud Backup and everything about it checks out, the mark is now cleared instead of following you forever.
- Finishing a delivery no longer risks losing what it reported online. A settlement can report the delivery, a level up, and several badges at once, and the game was sending them all at the same moment. They could crowd each other out, be sent twice, or in one case be dropped entirely. They now go out one after another, so your road journal records everything the run earned.
- Taking a pay advance no longer makes your cloud backup look edited. A pay advance is money from your next load paid early, but your career was only crediting the part of the settlement left after the advance came back out. Those advanced dollars sat in your bank with nothing in your lifetime earnings to account for them, so cloud backup upload could refuse the save and mark the driver for review. Lifetime earnings now count the whole settlement, and taking an advance no longer counts against you.
- Planning a stop now plays a single confirmation sound. Choosing "Plan to stop" from a stop's details no longer stacks a menu click and a confirmation chime back to back; you hear just the confirmation.
- Back-to-back road alerts no longer crash the Windows event voice. Urgent hazards still interrupt the current event announcement immediately, without making a separate redundant stop call that could crash inside SAPI.
- Lower speed zones now give you time to brake. When a construction zone or other posted limit drops, releasing the accelerator gives a loaded truck a fair braking window before speeding enforcement begins. Staying on the throttle forfeits that grace.
- Missing the destination exit twice no longer strands the delivery. Every missed attempt now loops you back far enough to hear the exit, signal, and slow down again instead of leaving the route stuck at zero miles remaining.
- Automatic speed control now slows you for the destination exit. When the signed delivery exit is announced, adaptive cruise eases the truck to ramp speed instead of switching off at highway speed. Press X to take the exit; automatic control releases as you enter the ramp, ready for you to brake to the facility stop without collecting an unwanted speeding fine.
- State-line announcements no longer repeat at the next major city. When the GPS calls out the real state boundary, passing the next city now says only the city and onward route instead of claiming that you crossed the same state line again.
