Release 1.2.2
⚡ Release 1.2.2 - Improvements to the scoring and immunity distribution⚡
Based on our recent discussions, we're deploying key updates to improve fairness and stability. These updates come in conjunction with the immunity period having been changed to 24 hours.
-
Updated Adaptive Scoring:
We are updating our (validators)moving_average_alphavalues to better balance initial performance with long-term consistency.
Immunity Phase (First 24h/7200blocks): Themoving_average_alphastays at 0.2 (current value), allowing new miners to build a competitive score. See this notebook for our simulation showing that this allows any performing miner to get a competitive score given the number of queries send by the validator.
Maturation Phase (Post-Immunity): Over the next 24 hours / 7200 blocks, themoving_average_alphawill gradually decrease to a final value of 0.02. This low value minimizes the impact of randomness, because the latest predictions do not dominate the total scores, and rewards miners with the best average performance over time. -
Also in this update:
We've bundled several other important improvements that are also going live on testnet:
- Proxy Improvements: Our validator proxy now uses a Mixture of Experts (MoE) model to combine predictions of multiple performing miners intelligently.
- RMSE Capping: We've set an upper limit on RMSE at 3x the lowest RMSE in a given step. This prevents extreme outliers from unfairly skewing the reward distribution.
- Various other minor bug fixes and performance enhancements.
Action for Miners:
All changes to the distribution above will require no change on your part whatsoever. If your miner code is still using GET requests to OpenMeteo however, please change these to POST requests to ensure you do not get a URL limit error in extreme cases. See the default miner code for an example of how to do this.
Action for Validators:
Auto-update: Updates automatically
Manual update: Pull latest code and restart
