runcode v2.6 (2026/06/13)
What's new in v2.6
New auxiliary tools
wait_for_server.py— polls a talk2stat server until it is ready to accept connections, eliminating the nohup startup race condition. Supports R, Python, Julia, and Matlab.runcode-Makefile.sample— sample Makefile encoding three best practices for nohup builds: restart server before each build, wait for readiness, send a sync barrier after the draft pass.consolidate.py— produces a self-contained copy of a runcode project with all cached outputs inlined into the.texsource, so the result compiles without talk2stat or any language runtime (e.g. for Overleaf or journal submission).
Checksum-based cache invalidation
Source files are now fingerprinted with MD5. A script is re-executed only when its source has changed or the output file is missing — no more unnecessary reruns, and no need to toggle the cache/run option manually.
Documentation
runcode.tex/runcode.pdf: documentation rewritten directly in LaTeX (replacing the Emacs org→tex workflow); covers all new features.runcode_troubleshoot.tex: new entry for the nohup race-condition problem; updated cache-clearing section to reflect v2.5+ auto-invalidation.
Fixes
- Renamed
wait_for_rserver.py→wait_for_server.py(works for all four languages). .ctan.sh: README is now generated fromCTAN/READMEwith the version placeholder correctly substituted.
