First packaged release of WindTunnel: drop in an STL, get a real OpenFOAM wind tunnel analysis on your own Mac.

Install

  1. Install OpenFOAM (one-time): brew install --cask gerlero/openfoam/openfoam
  2. Download WindTunnel-v0.1.0-macos-arm64.zip below (Apple Silicon), unzip, and move WindTunnel.app to /Applications.
  3. The app is unsigned: the first time, open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway.

Intel Mac? Build from source (see the README).

What's in it

  • Automatic meshing (snappyHexMesh, now on all cores) and steady RANS (simpleFoam, k-ω SST)
  • Drag and lift coefficients and forces, pressure vs. viscous breakdown, convergence charts
  • Surface pressure, movable flow slices and streamlines
  • Yaw and pitch sweeps, run comparison, half-model symmetry, rolling-road ground plane
  • Propeller actuator disks placed on the motors automatically, and a forward-flight trim solver
  • Mesh-independence sweeps and optional wake and prop-slipstream refinement
  • Re-solve on an existing mesh for new wind speeds or thrust
  • One-click repair for broken CAD exports
  • Rename runs, short run IDs, and automatic cleanup of failed runs' meshes

How close it gets to real wind tunnel data, and where it doesn't: docs/VALIDATION.md.
