Major Stuff (this release)

  • More JavaScript api with
    • player location API
  • Added a veiw distance selector
  • Made stuff like glass Transparent
  • Made world generation work much better with mud on top
  • Everything now loads slightly faster as veiwTop and veiwBottom are not tied to view distance
  • Shadows are back
BlockTrail-js-demo This is a bit outdated because world generation has been updated since then and the arches in the sky are now transparent glass.

How to Play

Option A — Native installer (recommended)

Head to the Releases page and download the file for your OS:

OS File
macOS (Apple Silicon / M1+) MtSharpGrain-aarch64.dmg
macOS (Intel) MtSharpGrain-x64.dmg
Windows MtSharpGrain-x64.exe
Linux MtSharpGrain-x64.deb

These bundle their own Java runtime — no separate JDK install needed. Just run the installer and launch the app.

Option B — Cross-platform zip

If you'd rather run it manually, or your platform isn't covered above:

  1. Download MtSharpGrain-<version>.zip from the Releases page
  2. Unzip it, move the folder wherever you like
  3. Install OpenJDK 21+Microsoft Build of OpenJDK is an easy option
  4. Go into the unzipped folder → bin/, and run:
    • MtSharpGrain on Mac/Linux
    • MtSharpGrain.bat on Windows

Go Play!

Check the wiki for how to actually play.

No guarantees on fun yet — lol.

If you get stuck, open an discussion or ask an AI "how do I run a Java application from a MtSharpGrain.bat/shell launcher script."

Click the Assets button bellow ↓ to find the downloads.

NOTE! .exe and .deb are untested, only x86-64 .dmg and .zip is tested. It might be helpful to memorize how to force quit an unresponsive application!

If the file for your operating system doesn't work, use the Cross-platform .zip (if that doesn't work nothing will)
