This release sharpens the Wi-Fi Optimizer's channel recommendations and broadens Upstream Discovery so it can still map your ISP even when its first-mile routers stay silent to pings. See v1.23.0 release notes for what's new in v1.23.0+.

Wi-Fi Optimizer

  • Signal Map framing - The map no longer zooms out to the whole globe when a floor or AP was created but never placed; un-positioned items are excluded from the map fit.
  • Better co-channel detection - Two APs on different control channels that share the same bonding block (e.g. 100/160 and 112/160) are now correctly scored as fully co-channel.
  • Mesh-aware recommendations - Mesh children stay pinned to their leader's channel through the whole recommendation flow, so suggested plans are always physically valid for the backhaul.
  • More accurate channel scoring - Airtime contention and raw utilization are now scored separately instead of as one lumped penalty.

Monitoring

  • Upstream Discovery: ISP test-server fallback - When no first-mile hop inside your ISP's own network answers ICMP, discovery now falls back to a curated, reachable ISP speed-test endpoint so the access-ISP cloud still resolves on the map. Currently covers Deutsche Telekom, T-Mobile / T-Mobile Fiber, and Spectrum (Charter). Discovery also counts as complete when the path is proven through transit alone. If your ISP also exposes no pingable access-network hops, open an Issue and we'll try to add fallback targets for it.
  • WAN globes - A down WAN now reports zero throughput instead of inheriting the gateway's aggregate rate, unused WANs are hidden, and labels and discovery messaging are clearer.
  • Flex 2.5G latency probing - Flex 2.5G switches are re-asserted as disabled latency targets on every reconcile, so a target missed during an offline or reconnect window self-heals once the model resolves.
  • Custom OID discovery - The Setup tab's device card is now "SNMP Devices and Custom OIDs" and auto-expands the first device once, so custom OID polling is easier to find.

Performance Tweaks

  • Lighter MongoDB eMMC backups - The MongoDB SSD-offload backup now keeps a single compressed archive on eMMC instead of an uncompressed copy, with a one-time migration. Your console's stock boot failsafe is untouched.
  • Module update banner - A banner now surfaces when a deployed gateway module (WAN Steering, Adaptive SQM, Performance Tweaks) has a newer version available.

Alerts & Schedule

  • Bulk incident actions - New "Acknowledge All" and "Resolve All" actions handle the whole incident list at once.
  • Easier speed test scheduling - "Add Test" buttons and helper text make it clear you can schedule a separate test for each WAN line or device.

Installation

Windows: Download the MSI installer below

Docker:

docker compose pull && docker compose up -d

macOS (native, recommended for accurate speed tests vs Docker Desktop):

git clone https://github.com/Ozark-Connect/NetworkOptimizer.git && cd NetworkOptimizer && ./scripts/install-macos-native.sh
# or if you already have it cloned
cd NetworkOptimizer && git pull && ./scripts/install-macos-native.sh

Proxmox:

bash -c "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Ozark-Connect/NetworkOptimizer/main/scripts/proxmox/install.sh)"

For other platforms (Synology, QNAP, Unraid, native Linux), see the Deployment Guide.
