@tvancott42 tvancott42 released this 09 Jul 20:16

Preview (beta) build of Network Optimizer 2.0 (with new Multi-Site support) for testers. Pin the tag below - :latest stays on stable 1.x. Feedback welcome.

Beta.6 plus the below. Already on beta.6? No agent update needed, nothing changed on the agent. Coming from an earlier beta, update your site agents as beta.5 described.

Wi-Fi Channel Optimizer

  • Soaking APs hold their channel - A soaking AP keeps its channel for the full soak window, so toggling DFS no longer bumps it mid-measurement.
  • Others avoid a soaking channel - The optimizer keeps other APs off a channel a soaking AP is holding, and tags mesh children of a soaking leader.
  • Band-aware escape from a bad channel - A soaking AP can leave a genuinely congested channel early, at per-band airtime thresholds (2.4 GHz 60%, 5 GHz 50%, 6 GHz 45%) instead of a flat 70%.

Multi-Site

  • External sites need a live agent to probe - Upstream Discovery and adding Latency Targets require a connected on-site agent; default internet targets seed disabled and auto-enable on first agent deploy.
  • Clearer WAN gateway test status - When Gateway (Direct) can't run, the reason shows below the option (not just a badge) and links to the right Settings page.
  • LAN Speed Test respects managed sites - No agent locks out the tests with a setup pointer, and the server iperf3 version badge is hidden (the test runs on the agent).
  • Per-site schedule reminder - On managed sites the schedule banner notes that schedules are per site.

Fixes since beta.6

  • Clearer agent-offline wording - Speed Test, Monitoring Tools, and WAN Steering say tests "can resume when the agent reconnects" rather than implying they auto-run.
  • LAN Speed Test polish on managed sites - The device list now populates on its own when the agent reconnects (no manual Refresh), no SSH-warning flash on load, connection and setup warnings stay readable while the section is locked, and it degrades gracefully if the gateway status can't be read.

New to the 2.0 beta? See the beta.5 notes for the Multi-Site overview.

Installation

Windows: Download the MSI installer below

Docker: pin the beta tags in docker-compose.yml (since :latest stays on stable), then pull:

image: ghcr.io/ozark-connect/network-optimizer:2.0.0-beta.7
image: ghcr.io/ozark-connect/speedtest:2.0.0-beta.7
docker compose pull && docker compose up -d

Proxmox - new install? Run the standard installer first, then pin the beta below:

bash -c "$(wget -qLO - https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Ozark-Connect/NetworkOptimizer/main/scripts/proxmox/install.sh)"

Upgrade (new and existing). Beta upgrades migrate your database and can't roll back to stable 1.x, so snapshot the LXC first:

pct exec <CT_ID> -- bash -c "cd /opt/network-optimizer && cp -n data/network_optimizer.db data/network_optimizer.db.pre-beta7 2>/dev/null; sed -i -E 's#(network-optimizer|speedtest):(latest|2\.0\.0-beta\.[0-9]+)#\1:2.0.0-beta.7#' docker-compose.yml && docker compose pull && docker compose up -d"

macOS (native):

cd NetworkOptimizer && git fetch --tags && git checkout v2.0.0-beta.7 && ./scripts/install-macos-native.sh
