Sophisticated Backpacks won't accept more than 4 items in each slot*

Describe the bug

Trying to put a stack of items into a backpack only allows up to 4 items to go into each slot max, UNLESS i shift-click them in.

Even if I right-click one at a time, it only goes up to 4.

This is the mod pack I'm using, but make sure you actually update the Sophisticated backpack/core/storage mods! They're not updated in the pack automatically; I updated them to the latest versions manually to test if things would break.

If I had to guess, it's some newly introduced incompatibility with a mod that touches item stacking logic, like maybe Bigger Stacks or Mouse Tweaks. Not sure, but everything was working on older versions of Sophisticated:

One of the Sophisticated mod updates in the last ~20 days broke this, because it was working fine on sophisticatedbackpacks-1.20.1-3.24.41.1765, sophisticatedcore-1.20.1-1.3.37.1868, and sophisticatedstorage-1.20.1-1.4.46.1730.

I don't know exactly when or which Sophisticated update broke things, but it's definitely just a Sophisticated mod issue, as I tested by updating everything EXCEPT the Sophisticated mods (everything worked fine), and I tested with updating everything INCLUDING Sophisticated mods (broken), and I tested with JUST updating Sophisticated mods (broken).

To Reproduce

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Install the SCE Protocol mod pack
2. Update the Sophisticated family of mods manually! (Very important; it doesn't break until you update)
3. Give yourself a backpack, put it on, and press "B" to open it (idk if those specifics matter)
4. Grab a stack of something (granola bars, steak, fences, whatever), and try to put it into one of the backpack slots. It should only put 4 items into each slot.

^ If it doesn't break in the way described, that may mean something I recently installed in my development build worked fine with the ~20-day-old version of Sophisticated Backpacks, but suddenly breaks in the newer versions of Sophisticated Backpacks, so that's useful info, too. Lemme know (although I don't actually think I've installed any new mods tbh)

Expected behavior

When left-clicking a stack of items into a backpack slot, the entire stack should go in (not just 4 items from the stack); when right-clicking, you should be able to right-click more than 4 items into a slot.

Broken mod versions (a couple of versions that have the problem, but older versions might have it, too):

• Sophisticated Backpacks 3.24.21.1864+ (tried with 3.24.52.1869 too; still broken)
• Sophisticated Core 1.3.47.1995+ (1.3.49.1999 also broken)
• Sophisticated Storage (if it matters somehow) 1.4.54.1827

Working mod versions (some update between the versions below and the versions above broke things):

I am unable to recreate with pack that I am usually testing in and I certainly don't have time to try to figure out why random modpacks work the way they do. Most likely case is some kind of interaction with some other mod that is causing this. If you can figure out which specific mod or minimal set of mods I can recreate with I will take another look though the most likely next step is going to be to report to them.

Actually one note seeing that the pack has bigger stacks, I am pretty sure that if you remove that mod and try with new backpack everything is going to be fine. These mods in general don't appear to work very well, they also try to mixin into sophisticated code a lot of the times breaking its functionality.

I'm narrowing the mods down rn (with binary method), and I came across a less-broken-but-still-broken version where instead of just 4 items, it's allowing 40, but it's clearly showing this:

It's capping the total for some reason.

Maybe you know why, but I'll keep trying to narrow it down until then

Okay, update: Weirdest issue I've ever seen:

It's an incompatibility with specifically Dimensional Doors (mod) AND Bigger Stacks, lol.

It's not an issue with one or the other; it literally has to be BOTH installed at the same time, which makes zero sense to me, because I don't see how/why Bigger Stacks and Dimensional Doors would have conflicting or similar code at all, but... Yeah:

I've confirmed those two mods with newer Sophisticated updates don't work, but they DO work just fine with these older Sophisticated versions:

• sophisticatedcore-1.20.1-1.3.37.1868
• sophisticatedstorage-1.20.1-1.4.46.1730 (if it matters somehow)

Meaning the break definitely occurred due to some change Sophisticated made.

Narrowing it down even further, the break occurs specifically on one of these versions:

• SophisticatedBackpacks 3.24.50.1841
• SophisticatedCore 1.3.45.1968
• SophisticatedStorage 1.4.53.1815

And it looks like that SophisticatedCore update actually touched stack slot limits

the limit change that happened there was to make sure that slot limit has a minimum of 1 literally by changing any limit lower than that to 1. I don't know how that could interact here unless some mod was abusing limit lower than 1 somehow.

I've only got those Sophisticated mods, DimDoors, and Bigger Stacks, no other mods, and it's still doing the issue; ima let the Bigger Stacks dev know, 'cause maybe it's an issue on their side
