PCS 0.9.102 - Better recall and more ways to explore your continuity
This release brings together the changes from 0.9.89–0.9.102: more natural use of saved context, new ways to explore connections, roomier Materials and Library views, and repairs to conversation, recall and shutdown behavior.
Highlights
-
Recall earlier context more naturally. Local now checks whether a personal or project question needs saved memory before answering. Questions such as “Who am I?” can initiate recall without a separate instruction to check memory. Broader conversation guidance encourages useful callbacks to earlier decisions, constraints and next steps. Repairs also address cases where ordinary conversation blocked a lookup before retrieval began.
-
Optional help noticing relevant memories. Help notice relevant memories in conversation, under Settings → Memory & sharing → Personal memory, provides small context hints when enabled. Local and Meta can receive matching cues for typed and completed spoken turns, including conversations with Vision. Supported Google and OpenAI models receive a bounded startup directory. The setting starts off, respects existing sharing choices, and omits hints when there is insufficient context space. Short previews remain pointers to inspect; complete corrected accounts retain their required corrections.
-
Clearer memory results and failure notices. Recall better distinguishes whole memories, original sources, episodes and corrections. Invalid or incomplete selections are rejected, and PCS shows a separate notice when a lookup fails. A blocked lookup is kept distinct from a completed search with no matching result. Updated guidance asks models to preserve important qualifications and distinguish earlier Calendar discussion from verified current Calendar access.
-
Keep screen context relevant. Local supplies the current screen to a reply only when the question or an established visual follow-up needs it. Introductions and personal-memory questions can stay focused without unsolicited desktop commentary. Google also briefly pauses background image submission during memory lookup, repairing a conflict that could prevent a prepared result from reaching the conversation.
-
Discover a connection and leave a landmark. The Continuity Map offers a short exploration through up to three existing connections. Inspect the saved evidence, try another connection, or leave a landmark in your own words. Your landmarks make useful connections easier to revisit. After continuing a kept thought, Explore in Map carries its title and next step as a temporary reminder while preserving your draft.
-
More room for reading and browsing. Documents and Web sources have compact browsing lists and larger detail areas. Notebooks use collection cards, and Reference notes separates prepared reading notes from retained research notes. Library keeps search visible beside a larger record reader, with direct Memories and Notebooks controls. Map discovery controls take less space, narrow layouts stack more cleanly, and Help reflects the updated workflows.
-
Explore saved connections with optional Jev help. From a Library record, choose Explore connections, add an optional question, and review a shortlist of saved records. Jev can suggest relevance, added information, repetition or possible disagreement. Local candidate search now reaches older matching records rather than relying only on recent ones. This optional trial requires a TypeSafe key and explicit review of each request’s shared contents. Suggestions remain provisional and do not automatically create memories or Map connections.
-
Less repeated search work and clearer search maintenance. Recall reuses identical embedding requests within a lookup and batches episode-vector searches. Repeated Library paging can reuse ranked results. Search capacity… shows available vector space and lets you explicitly retire an old provider’s index while preserving memories, sources, revisions and ordinary word search. Rebuilding with another provider remains a separate reviewed action.
-
Better protection for unsent drafts. Welcome suggestions, starting-map actions and other prepared text respect occupied composers. Delayed Local or research completion clears only the submitted draft version, preserving text edited while a reply was pending. Related repairs keep sending controls and keyboard focus in step with the visible draft.
-
More dependable Local recovery and shutdown. Fixed a cancellation overlap that could leave PCS showing “Stopping…” after the model had closed. Quit now coordinates with pending Stop or Lock cleanup. Certain completed Local request errors no longer unload an otherwise usable model, and oversized additions receive more recoverable handling. Uncertain cleanup remains visible.
-
Fewer unnecessary repeat reviews. Jev can recognize a previously reviewed exact Local profile. Proactive-help reviews survive unrelated settings edits and can be recovered when returning to an unchanged reviewed scope. Explicit Off choices remain respected; new models or shared inputs still require review.
-
Optional thinking sound and clearer transcripts. Local and Meta can play a quiet pulse while preparing a reply. Thinking sound starts off, is saved in the browser, and follows Voice volume and Mute PCS. OpenAI transcript handling also keeps separate output parts from running together, including delayed or interleaved events.
Upgrading from 0.9.88
Save your work, create an encrypted vault backup, and back up original Materials files separately. Quit PCS, extract the complete Windows ZIP into a fresh folder, and follow the included Backup & restore instructions.
Retain the previous application folder and pre-upgrade backup while checking the restored copy. Existing vault compatibility requirements remain; Check backup reports the minimum reader.
