PGF Expansion Pack v2.0
MAD GAMES TYCOON 2
PGF EXPANSION PACK · UPDATE LOG · VERSION 2.0
by Dale McGlone | May 2026
Overview
Version 2.0 of the PGF Expansion Pack is a comprehensive overhaul of the core game data, visuals, and economy. The update covers hardware progression, platform balancing, engine data integrity, genre visuals, and a streamlined distribution system for quick installation.
Hardware
Tech Level Expansion (TL11 & TL12)
– Added 21 new hardware components covering all 9 component types at Tech Levels 11 and 12
– TL11 components use real and near-future hardware names:
· CPU: AMD Ryzen 9000X (Zen 7)
· GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 7090
· RAM: DDR7 SDRAM
· Storage: PCIe 6.0 NVMe SSD (16 TB)
· Cooling: Two-Phase Immersion Cooling System
– TL12 components represent speculative next-generation technology (2038–2045 era)
– Controller and Case components now extend through TL12 for full console development coverage
Data Integrity Fix
– Resolved a duplicate entry conflict — vanilla hardware ID 184 (Intel Pentium Prototype) was in conflict with expansion entries; all custom components renumbered cleanly to IDs 185–205
Platform Rebalancing
48 platform entries have been rebalanced for more consistent and realistic price and development cost scaling across all tech levels.
Arcade Hardware
– Sega arcade boards (System 1 through ALLS) now have accurate arcade hardware pricing scaled by tech level
– Capcom CP System family (CP System, CP System Dash, CP System II, CP System III) updated to match arcade market values
– All boards previously carrying a generic placeholder price have been corrected
Home Computers & Consoles
– Early home platforms (Atari 400, APF MP1000, RCA Studio II/III, Bandai Super Vision 8000, etc.) updated to era-appropriate pricing consistent with their tech level peers
– Casio Loopy, Evercade VS, MSX 2, HyperScan, and NUON corrected from placeholder values
Mobile & OS Platforms
– iOS, Android, Symbian, BlackBerry, and Windows Phone platforms corrected — all now follow a consistent price-to-development-cost ratio (approx. 32%)
– Applies across TL7 through TL10 mobile entries
NPC Engine Data
– Resolved duplicate ID conflicts: Construct (ID 51) and Phaser 2 (ID 86) were assigned colliding IDs — both renumbered to unique entries (146 and 147 respectively)
– Engine roster integrity confirmed across all 146 entries
Feature Data
– Fixed a malformed tag in GameplayFeatures.txt — an extra bracket on the Polish localisation of Adaptive Controller Support was causing a parse inconsistency
– All 19 data files audited and confirmed structurally clean
Visuals
Genre Icons
– All 19 genre icons fully replaced with new custom-designed icons
– Flat design style — coloured circular background with a white symbol per genre
– All icons rendered and delivered at the correct 64×64 RGBA PNG standard
– Covers: Action, Adventure, Build, Economic, FPS, Fighting, Jump & Run, Movie, Puzzle, RPG, RTS, Racing, Simulation, Skill, Sport, Strategy, Survival, TPS, Visual Novel
Platform Icons
– All 176 active platform icons standardised to 128×128 RGBA PNG
– 7 icons were non-standard sizes and have been corrected:
· GBA, Sega 32X, Sega CD, Sega MegaCast — upscaled from 120×120 via high-quality resampling
· Fire / Fire 2 — resized from 125×125
· Atari Jaguar 2 — letterboxed from 128×114 with transparent padding to preserve aspect ratio
– Placeholder icon (missing.png, 32×32) left intentionally as-is for game compatibility
Distribution
The expansion now ships as a single streamlined installation package. All assets are bundled and protected — players cannot accidentally edit or corrupt expansion files.
– One-click install: double-click install.bat, the installer auto-detects the game folder
– All original game files are automatically backed up before any changes are applied
– Full uninstall support via uninstall.bat — restores original files in one step
– Package covers all expansion assets: hardware data, platform data, engine data, feature data, genre icons, platform icons, company logos, and game balance patches

Update 3
PGF Expansion Hotfix Summary
This hotfix fixes two main issues reported by players:
Installer Fixes
The installer has been updated so it no longer relies on a prefilled or hardcoded Mad Games Tycoon 2 install location.
It now automatically searches the player’s computer for the correct Mad Games Tycoon 2 directory by checking:
- the folder the installer was launched from
- nearby parent folders
- Steam install locations
- Steam library folders
- common game install paths
The installer also now safely skips missing drives instead of throwing PowerShell errors.
This should fix errors such as:
Command is not recognizedECHO command disabledJoin-Path: Drive not found- missing
D:orG:drive errors
Players should no longer need to manually edit paths or install the mod to a specific drive.
Console Storage Tech Fixes
A bug was fixed where internal/external storage options were missing or unusable for some console generations, especially around tech levels 3 and 4.
Storage technology that can logically be used by both handheld and stationary consoles is now shared between both console types.
This means general storage tech is no longer unnecessarily split into handheld-only or stationary-only versions.
Examples of shared storage tech now include:
- cartridges
- cassette/floppy-style storage
- CD/DVD/Blu-ray-style optical drives
- flash storage
- SD/microSD storage
- SSD/NVMe/USB-C storage
Only storage tech that is truly specific to one console type remains restricted.
