We are thrilled to announce the official release of debim v0.2.0 — a minimal, Git-native, declarative Building Information Modeling (BIM) compiler and Building-as-Code engine designed specifically for AI agents and human architects/engineers.

1. 📦 Official PyPI Distribution

Install directly anywhere in seconds with zero friction:

2. 🔌 Model Context Protocol (FastMCP) Server

debim is now natively integrated with the Model Context Protocol (MCP) for AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Cursor, Antigravity, Devin, Windsurf):

  • debim_validate: Validates 3D coordinates, storey elevations, and material references
  • debim_qto: Computes deterministic material quantities (concrete volume, formwork area, rebar, steel, timber, excavation)

  • debim_cost_template: Extracts project-scoped price catalog templates

  • Autonomous synthesis of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe's iconic Farnsworth House (Public Domain / National Historic Landmark).
  • Authored directly in Declarative YAML (examples/farnsworth_house/project.yaml) by AI Coding Agent (Google Antigravity powered by Gemini 3.8 Flash).
  • Compiles into a clean 4.8 KB IFC4 model (over 90% file size reduction vs legacy CAD/BIM).

  • Created skills/debim/SKILL.md agent skill specification.

6. 🔔 Automatic PyPI Version Check & Update Notifier

  • Added an unobtrusive, 24-hour cached PyPI version checker.
  • Alerts users politely in Rich styling when a newer release is available on PyPI (pip install -U debim).

🧪 Quality & Tests

  • 149 passed in full test suite (100%)
  • Deterministic compliance checking, spatial structure validation, QTO formulas, and IFC serialization.
