Soundboard v1.0.0

Soundboard v1.0.0 is the first public release of the local Windows desktop
soundboard.

It mixes a physical microphone with one sound effect at a time and sends the
combined result to VB-CABLE for Discord or games. Sounds can also be monitored
separately through physical headphones. The local library supports categories,
Favorites, search, persistent ordering, tile personalization, global hotkeys,
waveform editing, non-destructive trimming and fades, loudness normalization,
and safety limiting.

Before using Soundboard

This release requires Windows x64 and VB-CABLE installed separately. It does
not install or configure the VB-CABLE driver.

Use this routing:

Soundboard microphone:      Physical microphone
Soundboard virtual output:  CABLE Input
Discord input:              CABLE Output
Discord output:             Physical headset

Do not select VB-CABLE as Discord's output. Discord Krisp and similar noise
suppression should generally be disabled because they can filter out sound
effects.

Installation options

  • Soundboard-Setup-v1.0.0-win-x64.exe is a per-user installer. Its
    destination page remains available, so the installation folder can be
    changed. Reinstalling initially selects the previous installation path.
  • Soundboard-v1.0.0-win-x64-portable.zip can be extracted to a writable
    folder and run without installation.

Both options are self-contained; no separate .NET runtime installation is
required. User files remain under %LOCALAPPDATA%\Soundboard. Reinstalling,
upgrading, or uninstalling the application preserves the library and settings
by default.

Download verification

SHA256SUMS.txt contains SHA-256 hashes for the installer, portable ZIP, and
release manifest. release-manifest.json records the source commit, dependency
versions, build settings, signing status, artifact sizes, and hashes.

Important warnings

The application and installer are unsigned. Windows SmartScreen may display an
Unknown Publisher warning. Verify the SHA-256 checksum before running a
download.

  • VB-CABLE is a separate prerequisite
  • No automatic updates
  • No code signing
  • No microphone monitoring through Soundboard
  • No general system-audio capture
  • No automatic Discord configuration
