PackRat 2.2.3 — TestFlight build 2026090601
The Apple Watch app ships in this release, along with fixes for four things you reported.
Offline banner has been removed (#2723)
It used to sit across the top and cover the back, add and more buttons on pack
and trip screens. Rather than move it, we took it out of the app's chrome
entirely — sync state now lives in Settings → Sync, where you can check
connectivity, how many changes are waiting to upload, and when the last one went
through. If you are signed out, that section tells you your work is saved on
this device only and offers a sign-in.
Deleting is now discoverable in packs and items detail screens (#2720)
It used to be long-press or swipe only, which was easy to miss.
- Open a pack → the
⋯menu → Delete Pack. Confirms first, and tells you
how many items go with it. - Open an item → the
⋯menu → Delete Item. Also confirmed before it deletes.
The assistant can now find your packs (#2710)
Asking it to add an item to an existing pack failed with "I couldn't find a pack
named…" even when the pack was on screen. This has been fixed and now works.
The assistant stops assuming every trip is a hike (#2709)
A general prompt like "any packing tips for a 3-day tour?" came back with
shelter, tent and sleeping bag suggestions. It no longer assumes backpacking
unless you have given it that context.
Gap Analysis has its icon back
It was rendering blank in the pack menu.
Apple Watch
If you have a paired Watch, the app should install alongside the phone app.
What is worth checking
- Turn on Airplane Mode and move around the app. No banner should appear, and
nothing at the top should be covered or shifted. - While offline, edit or add something, then look at Settings → Sync. The
pending count should go up. Reconnect, and it should clear. - Confirm your unit preferences — temperature, weight, wind and distance —
survived the update. Settings was reorganised and they should all still be set
the way you left them. - Ask the assistant to add something to a pack you already have, using the
pack's exact name, and then with different casing. - Ask it a general packing question that is not about hiking, and see whether the
answer matches the kind of trip you described. - On the Watch: tick items off a packing checklist and confirm the phone agrees,
and check that temperatures use the same unit you set on the phone.
