VOOL 0.7.2-beta
VOOL 0.7.2-beta
VOOL is a private AI station that runs on your own computer. This beta makes everyday chatting smoother (try again, edit and resend, clean streaming, themes), adds a switch that keeps VOOL offline until you allow it, brings USDT sending and trader tools to the crypto side, and connects VOOL to X.
What's new
- Try again and edit. Every reply has Try again, and you can edit and resend your own message. Attachments come along.
- Clean answers while they stream. No raw symbols flashing on screen as an answer arrives.
- Look and feel. Light, Dark or Match system, bigger conversation text, Jump to latest, clear tab titles, one icon style, and a friendly "are you sure?" before deleting.
- Esc stops the answer, every time.
- Your words, as typed. Write in your own language and VOOL keeps your message as you wrote it.
- Bring your chats with you. Import chats from another AI app on this computer or from an export file. Chat titles and messages come over.
- Desk pet with more personality. It says what VOOL is doing, stays quiet otherwise, and keeps problems on screen.
- Slower computers. Local models on computers without a graphics chip get more time, so answers finish instead of timing out.
- Stop VOOL, then start again. VOOL now restarts properly after "Stop VOOL".
Privacy and safety
- "Go online on its own" switch, off by default. VOOL makes no downloads or cloud checks on its own until you allow it.
- Private chat in every app language. Private chat now works in all 17 languages and leaves nothing behind.
- Deeper forget. Forget also clears the matching run history, and "forget 12" no longer touches "room 312".
- Safer installs. Safety checks run again right before any skill or plugin installs. A failure shows on the skill's card.
- Secrets kept out of more places. More logs and files are kept free of secrets, with clearer messages when an API key is blocked.
Connections
- X from any chat. Search posts and accounts, Spaces, trends and DMs, and look up past calls on a token. Anything that acts on your account waits for your OK.
- Calendar. Understands "next Friday" or "for two hours", warns about clashes, and no longer reads "3 apples" as a date.
- Cloud web search. Cloud models can use their own built-in web search when you switch it on. Any fees still go through your spending limits.
- Email. Add an email account from Settings. The login and the server's certificate are checked before saving.
Crypto (off by default)
Crypto features are off until you turn them on. When on, VOOL uses mainnet. Every payment goes through VOOL's wallet, with its limits, your approval and a receipt.
- Send USDT from chat on Solana, Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain and Arbitrum One.
- All your balances on every chain in one answer.
- Wallets on contacts. Save a friend's wallet on their contact, with the right chain.
- Watch alerts. "Watch this wallet" or "tell me when this token goes above 0.5". Read-only; VOOL never trades.
- Trader tools. See who is buying, selling or holding a token, collect its trades, and check a thesis claim by claim.
- Pay-per-answer AI services, paid from your VOOL wallet only after you approve.

Updating from 0.7.1 or 0.7.0: download 0.7.2 below and install it over your current version. Your chats and settings live in your profile, outside the app.
Install on a Mac (Apple Silicon or Intel)
- Pick the download that matches your chip: Apple menu > About This Mac.
- Optional: check the download in Terminal with

- The app is not notarized. On first open, double-click VOOL and click Done. Then go to System Settings > Privacy & Security, click Open Anyway, and confirm with your password. On macOS 14, Control-click VOOL and choose Open instead.

~/.local/bin/voolNo sudo or system Python is needed. VOOL appears in your application menu and opens the chat in your browser. To remove it, run bash ~/.local/share/vool/current/uninstall.sh. Your profile is kept.
Known limits in this beta
- Skill Codex is not open yet. Browsing, installing and sharing skills start once it opens.
- A forgotten item is no longer recalled or listed, but its text can stay in VOOL's local memory file on your computer. Removing it from that file is planned for 0.7.3, not released yet.
- On Intel Macs, local models run on the processor and are slow. A long memory answer can time out, so use a cloud model there for now.
- Paying websites through Solana pay-kit is not included in the downloads. That channel shows as not usable on this install.
- No live mainnet payment has been made yet with x402 or pay-per-answer AI services.
- Before a local model can write answers, press Certify for it once (Settings > Models & Providers > Local models).
- Scanned-PDF reading works on Macs only.
- The Mac app is not notarized (see the first-open steps above).
