Releases: PatchScratch/Translation-Aggregator

1.1.1

What's Changed

Bug Fixes

  • fix(config): stop persisting the frozen build's temp dictionary path — the JParser pane went blank after closing and reopening the app. Packaged builds (Windows exe, Linux AppImage) saved their one-run temp extraction/mount location as the dictionaries directory into the config; the next launch found a dead path and silently loaded zero entries. The config no longer persists that path, an already-poisoned config repairs itself automatically on the next start, and a missing dictionary directory now prints a warning instead of failing invisibly.

Other Changes

  • chore: release 1.1.1

v1.1.0 — AppImage + prebuilt Windows build

Translation Aggregator 1.1.0

New in 1.1.0

  • Linux AppImage — a single downloadable file with the app and the JParser dictionaries bundled (--cli inside the AppImage runs the command line tool). Built and smoke-tested automatically on every release.
  • Prebuilt Windows build — TranslationAggregator-x.y.z-win64.exe with bundled dictionaries; the local-engine bridges work from the frozen exe.
  • App icon — 訳 on a blue rounded square, across both builds.
  • In-app Playwright installer (Tools menu) for the Baidu engine: pip package + Chromium download with streamed output, no restart needed. Portable builds explain why they can't self-install.
  • README documents the prebuilt downloads.

Also in 1.0.0

15 engines translating in parallel (web, dictionary, local ATLAS V14 and LEC Nova), rearrangeable panes with tear-off windows, menu bar with language switching and history navigation, Auto Clipboard mode, per-pane settings, System/Light/Dark themes, full CLI.

See the README for the engine list, local engine setup (ATLAS/LEC need a 32-bit Python bridge), and configuration.

GPL-2.0-or-later. Built on the original Translation Aggregator project, EDRDG dictionary data, jisho.org, MeCab, and PyQt6.

v1.0.0 — first major revision

@PatchScratch PatchScratch released this 06 Oct 23:56

Translation Aggregator 1.0.0

A modern, cross-platform rebuild of the classic Windows Translation Aggregator — everything the original did (except text hooking), and a lot it never did.

Highlights

  • 15 translation engines, in parallel — panes fill in as each engine answers; a slow engine never delays the others
  • Local engines return: Fujitsu ATLAS V14 (ja⇄en) and LEC Nova (ja→en, Power Translator 15) driven through a 32-bit bridge process
  • Web translators: Google Translate (with rate-limit failover), Bing, DeepL (web or your API key), Yandex, Papago, Caiyun 彩云小译, Systran, Babelfish, Baidu (Playwright)
  • Dictionaries: WWWJDIC, Jisho, Babylon — plus the JParser pane rebuilt in pure Python (loads ~1.5M entries in seconds, a fraction of the original's memory) and MeCab with furigana
  • Any OpenAI-compatible API as a translator (OpenAI, OpenRouter, LM Studio, …)
  • Layout that bends: 1–3 columns, drag panes anywhere, drop into empty columns, tear panes off into borderless floating windows and drag them back; arrangement persists
  • Menu bar (File/View/Tools/Help): language pair switching across the full language list, history navigation (Alt+←/→), source-text conversion to kana/romaji, always-on-top, window opacity, pane font, lockable layout
  • Auto Clipboard mode with queueing for rapid line-by-line reading
  • Per-pane settings: every engine with options has its own ⚙ dialog (DeepL, WWWJDIC, OpenAI, Caiyun, JParser, MeCab, ATLAS)
  • System / Light / Dark color scheme following your OS
  • Full CLI (transagg) alongside the GUI

Install

pip install -e ".[full]"
transagg-gui

See the README for local engine setup (ATLAS/LEC need a 32-bit Python bridge), the Baidu performance note, and configuration.

Roadmap

User-defined AI translator panes (any OpenAI-style API, several side by side), more AI provider APIs such as Anthropic's Messages API, and more.

GPL-2.0-or-later. Built on the original Translation Aggregator project, EDRDG dictionary data, jisho.org, MeCab, and PyQt6.
