Perkoh/README.md

Hello, I'm Perkoh Awuah Donkoh

I'm a cybersecurity and machine-learning enthusiast who likes building things that sit right where those two fields meet — using ML not as a buzzword, but as a practical tool for solving real security problems.

I'm drawn to the questions that live in the overlap: How do you teach a model to recognise a threat it has never seen? How do you protect users without taking away their control? How do you ship a security tool that's actually fast, private, and honest about what it knows? I care as much about the engineering around a model — data integrity, deployment, latency, graceful failure — as the model itself, because in security a clever model that's slow, biased, or brittle in production helps no one.

My flagship project is gyAI, a real-time domain-intelligence system that warns users about malicious and phishing sites through a browser extension — informing rather than blocking. It's an end-to-end build: feature engineering, a two-phase LightGBM model, a Flask API, Redis caching, and a Manifest V3 extension, deployed and load-tested as a real service.

Always learning, always building. If it involves catching bad actors with good data, I'm interested.

Objective

To grow as an engineer at the intersection of cybersecurity and applied machine learning — building systems that detect and explain threats in the real world, not just in notebooks. My focus is on the full lifecycle of a security-ML product: sourcing and cleaning threat data without introducing bias, engineering features that generalise, training and validating models with the metrics that actually matter (precision, recall, false-positive rate — not just accuracy), and deploying them as fast, private, production-grade services. I'm especially interested in threat detection, phishing and domain intelligence, explainable AI for security decisions, and user-respecting design — protection that keeps humans in control. My goal is to keep shipping projects that turn machine learning into practical, trustworthy security for real users.
