@Phaenex Phaenex released this 02 Oct 20:59

NoClippy 1.0. The version shown is 1.0; the build number underneath (1.0.2) keeps counting so the updater works. If you're on 1.0.1, NoClippy offers this update itself, or use Check for updates in Settings, then Help.

Picking apps is easier

  • Add an app shows your open programs by name, with their real icons, grouped by app instead of a list of window titles.
  • Click a window to pick it, or open an app to hide just one of its windows.
  • Apps that get a black bar instead of invisible hiding (games with anti-cheat) say so before you add them.
  • With nothing added yet, NoClippy names the private apps you have open and protects them in one click.

It doesn't leave things on stream

  • If an app blocks invisible hiding, it's covered with a black bar instead of being left visible. If even that fails, it's minimized, and NoClippy tells you which app.
  • While the Add or Edit window is open, NoClippy hides itself from capture, so window names in the picker never reach your stream.
  • Warnings and test results name the app, never the window title.

Panic you can see and undo

  • Panic shows a banner while it's on, with a Back to normal button. You no longer have to turn protection off and on to get out of it.

Fixes

  • "Turn protection on when OBS goes live" works even when OBS auto-connect was off at launch, and changes to the OBS settings apply without restarting NoClippy.
  • Updates install cleanly while Discord, Steam or your browser are open. The hiding helper gets a new file name each build, so an app that still has the old one loaded can't block the update.
  • Plainer wording everywhere, one Help menu, a Send feedback link that opens a pre-filled GitHub issue, and the Stream Deck token hidden until you click Show.

Every file is signed by Nicholas DAmato and matches SHA256SUMS.txt.

NoClippy 1.0.1

Security update. Please install it.

Fixed

  • Websites can no longer control NoClippy. 1.0.0 ran a local connection for Stream Deck on port 59651 that any web page open in your browser could also use. A malicious page could have switched protection off mid-stream, triggered panic mode or read your profile names. 1.0.1 refuses connections that come from a browser, and the Stream Deck integration keeps working.
  • The local API on port 59660 now needs your token for everything. Turning things on or off already did. Reading the status didn't, so any website could see whether protection was on. Now every request needs the token from Settings, then Advanced, and requests that don't come straight from this PC are refused.
  • The Stream Deck note in Settings, then Advanced, pointed to a file you couldn't open. It now says how to set up a Stream Deck HTTP action.
  • Release builds no longer contain the build machine's folder paths.

If you use the API on port 59660 to read /status, add the X-NoClippy-Token header to that request too.

Already on 1.0.0? NoClippy offers this update by itself (Help, then Check for updates), or download the installer below.
