Okto MultiWave Synth beta 0.2 (test version)
Okto MultiWave Synth beta 0.2 — a test version of the Wavelet Synthesizer (beta 0.7) with four wavelet oscillators instead of two engines: SuperModulation, 300 new presets, a chord mode with bass and an oriental keyboard.

Download: OktoMultiWaveSynth-beta0.2-win64.zip below — the VST3 / VST2 instrument for Windows 10/11 (64-bit). Unzip it and copy the whole OktoMultiWaveSynth.vst3 folder into C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3 (or your VST2 plug-in folder, replacing beta 0.1), then rescan the plug-ins in your DAW (INSTALL.txt in the zip). No macOS build is made for this version.

What is new in beta 0.2
- SuperModulation. What makes this synthesizer different is that every timbre control acts on the scales of one wave cycle; now both LFOs reach all of them. LFO 1 gets three more amounts: SPARSITY, RESO and ENV>WAV. LFO 2 can move every control of the wavelet oscillators and of the scale filter: SPARSITY, SOURCE WIDTH, TILT, ODD / EVEN BARS, SCALE SUSTAIN, WAVELET MORPH join the cutoff, slope, resonance, window and source phase.
- 300 new presets (201–500), composed from oscillator layers that are very different from each other (two subtractive or two additive oscillators of opposite character) and from LFO recipes, then measured one by one: the chord with its bass stays under the limiter (no crackle), the spectrum really moves, the loudness matches the TOP Sounds. The new SuperModulation category (120 presets, first in the lists) holds the sounds whose life is the LFOs moving the wavelet controls. The 22 TOP Sounds and the 200 presets of beta 0.1 are unchanged; Wobble Bass is now the first of the Bass list.
- Chord mode: the BASS button (under CHORD MODE, on by default) plays the root two octaves below, a little louder. The chord follows the left hand: pick another chord on the selector octave while the right-hand note is held and the held chord changes at once (only the notes of the current chord sound; the left hand remembers its last chord).
- Oriental keyboard: a three-position TUNING switch (Western · Arabic · Turkish) under CHORD MODE retunes the keys with quarter tones or commas, by scale (Rast, Bayati, Hijaz, Saba, Nahawand) and tonic; the keys it moves are marked.
- The preset browser follows the preset box; the arrows step through the lists in order.
- EVALUATE SOUNDS now rates 500 presets: the 300 new ones first, then the 200 of beta 0.1 (ratings of beta 0.1 stay valid). Stop whenever you like; Save as… keeps a copy under a name of your own. Please send the ratings file back.
Checked
The 22 TOP Sounds against the published beta 0.7 engine; the C++ engine against the JavaScript reference on 577 cases (all 522 presets and the variants of every new feature: worst 1.8e-7); the new engine checks (tests/supermod.js); the VST3 test host (188 checks of its non-editor sections), the VST2 entry point (41 checks), the plug-in's EVALUATE SOUNDS window and CHORD MODE driven like a player, an older presets file read with the new presets in their default places; the web app in headless Edge. Nobody has heard the 300 new presets yet: that is what EVALUATE SOUNDS is for.
Free software under the GNU GPL v3 or later, without any warranty. Manuals: web/manual/ (Manual A: subtractive oscillators, Manual B: additive oscillators), also inside the plug-in bundle (the MANUAL button).

What is new
- Four oscillators, A1 A2 (subtractive) and B1 B2 (additive), each with its own tone, scale filter, position window, tuning, own envelope (a percussive attack, a pad that fades in) and pitch envelope (kicks, zaps); one tab per oscillator, OSC MIX sets the four levels.
- 222 presets: OktoPierre's 22 TOP Sounds (unchanged, they match the beta 0.7 sound within 1.5e-7) and 200 new presets (001–200: Bass, Lead, Keys, Organ, Pad, Strings, Brass & Wind, Pluck, Bells & Mallets, FX, Drums & Perc), every one built from at least two oscillators.
- EVALUATE SOUNDS (web app and plug-in): plays 5 s of Beethoven with each new preset, asks 1–10 stars, lets you modify what you rate above 5 and record the change, and saves a
.txtafter every answer; stop whenever you like and keep a copy under a name of your own with Save as… (plug-in:Documents\Okto MultiWave Synth\okto-multiwave-ratings.txt). Please send that file back. - CHORD MODE button next to the keyboard: a chord-harp card (twelve chord pads, voicing, bass, strum, strum plate) that is only there while it is on.
- Lighter on the CPU: about 20 % less than the beta 0.7 engine on the same sounds; the review of the CPU study is applied (see RELEASE_HISTORY.md for what was and was not done).

The 22 TOP Sounds against the published beta 0.7 engine; the C++ engine against the JavaScript reference on 251 cases (worst 1.8e-7); the idle rule; the VST3 test host (190 checks: parameters, audio, state, offline, presets, portamento, stress, instances, tempo sync); the VST2 entry point (41 checks); the plug-in's EVALUATE SOUNDS window and CHORD MODE driven like a player; the web app in headless Edge (every preset plays and releases). The 200 new presets are matched in loudness and checked to be distinct, but nobody has heard them yet: that is what EVALUATE SOUNDS is for.
