A new paradigm: per-Mac knowledge graph + 5 AI tools (Claude Haiku & Sonnet).
The app now builds a knowledge graph of every persistence item, groups thousands of items into ~280 concept clusters, and lets you decide once per cluster instead of per item. Verdicts attach to concepts, not items, so they propagate to everything similar — including future scans.
AI tools (all opt-in, your own API key)
- Smart Triage — cluster-first review with one batched call for unresolved clusters
- System Report — Sonnet writes a narrative health summary of your Mac
- Threat Hunt — ask in plain language ("anything in /tmp?", "cryptominers?")
- Snapshot Diff Analyst — explains what changed between two scans
- Analyze with AI (per item) — single-item deep dive

Performance
GUI fully decoupled: filter pipeline off-main, cached scan loads async, no main-thread freezes during AI batches. Daily call cap (default 30) keeps costs predictable — typically <$1/month.
Privacy
All scanning, risk scoring, and graph reasoning runs locally. AI calls go directly to Anthropic with your own key — no proxy, no telemetry, no logging. API key stored in macOS Keychain.
Install
- Download the DMG below, drag to Applications
- If macOS says "damaged": `xattr -cr /Applications/MacPersistenceChecker.app`
- Settings → AI → paste your Anthropic key (https://console.anthropic.com)
- Settings → Monitoring → flip "Use AI" on
- Toolbar → Triage to start
