Defend the gambling machines from the bugs so you can help your feline devotee get out of debt! Tower defense meets gambling in Cat Debt ™️.
We ended up finalizing 5 cards for a straight (multiplier of 5), with the following themes: Unity Teamwork Classic Imperfection Gambling It was a bit difficult to conceptualize a game that logically used each of these themes, but we ended up deciding to go with a tower defense style game about helping a cat with crippling debt. We incorporated the themes in the following ways Unity: The player acts as a ‘god’ to help the cat character Teamwork: See the above Classic: Tower defense Imperfection: The gambling machine is corrupted by bugs and must be fixed Gambling: The gambling addicted cat and gambling towers
A certain gambling-addicted cat is in insane debt, with a 101% loss rate. However, what that cat doesn’t know is that the gambling machine they’re addicted to is bugged!
Place towers, kill bugs, earn purrency. Use purrency to… spin a wheel for more (or less) towers! Upgrade your towers!! Buy better odds for the cat on the gambling machine!!! (The latter is your main goal.)
Your devotee awaits. Fix the machine. (curing the addiction is... a problem for later.)
Or don't kill the bugs! watch your devotee fall into greater debt and doom and despair and allat!!!!
May the odds be ever in your favor.
If you'd like to build it yourself, we used Godot 4.7. There is a pre-built web version available on itch, but if you still insist on building, go ahead.
- Install Godot 4.7
- Download and unzip the code
- Open the file with Godot project manager
- Go to Project > Export, add whichever platform you're on (MacOS, Windows) and then click export.
- You're good to go!
This project has used Generative Artificial Intelligence in the debugging process, and for some boilerplate code across the project.
