PlexMCP v1.0.0 - Initial Source-Available Release

We're excited to announce the first public release of PlexMCP, a source-available MCP (Model Context Protocol) gateway with enterprise features.

What is PlexMCP?

PlexMCP is a unified gateway for managing and orchestrating MCP servers. It provides:

  • MCP Server Orchestration - Register, manage, and route requests to your MCP servers
  • Multi-Tenant Organizations - Isolated workspaces for teams and projects
  • Role-Based Access Control - Fine-grained permissions with owner, admin, and member roles
  • API Key Management - Secure API keys with rate limiting and usage tracking
  • Usage Tracking - Monitor API calls and resource consumption
  • Audit Logging - Comprehensive logging for compliance and debugging
  • Custom Subdomain Routing - Route requests through custom subdomains

Getting Started

Self-Hosting with Docker

# Clone the repository
git clone https://github.com/PlexMCP/PlexMCP-OSS.git
cd PlexMCP-OSS

# Run setup script (generates .env with secrets)
./scripts/setup.sh

# Start with Docker Compose
docker compose --profile prebuilt up -d

# Verify health
./scripts/health-check.sh

The dashboard will be available at http://localhost:3000 and the API at http://localhost:8080.

Docker Images

Pull the pre-built images:

# API Server
docker pull ghcr.io/plexmcp/plexmcp-api:v1.0.0

# Web Dashboard  
docker pull ghcr.io/plexmcp/plexmcp-web:v1.0.0

PlexMCP is licensed under FSL-1.1-Apache-2.0:

  • Source-available: Full source code access
  • Self-hostable: Deploy on your own infrastructure
  • Commercial use: Use for internal or commercial purposes
  • Converts to Apache 2.0: After 2 years, becomes fully open source
