@ApplexDev ApplexDev released this 18 Oct 03:46

PlexKillstreaks v2.0.0 updates modern Paper compatibility and improves configuration reload, PlaceholderAPI and SQLite reliability while preserving existing gameplay features, commands and permissions.

Requirements and verified builds

One PlexKillstreaks-2.0.0.jar uses Java 21 bytecode and retains API version 1.21.

Paper build Server Java Verification
1.21.4 #232 21 Startup, console commands, configuration reload, SQLite initialization and shutdown
26.1.1 #29 25 Same smoke checks
26.1.2 #74 25 Same smoke checks
26.2 #134 25 Same smoke checks
26.3 #203 25 Same checks, plus PlaceholderAPI 2.12.3 registration and reload

Paper 26.1+ requires Java 25 even though the plugin uses Java 21 bytecode. PlaceholderAPI is optional; the plugin also loads without it.

Changes

  • Preserve the internal PlaceholderAPI expansion across /papi reload and unregister it on shutdown. All eight existing placeholders remain available; null-player values were checked on Paper 26.3.
  • Reject malformed or unreadable configuration reloads while retaining active settings.
  • Make SQLite schema initialization and validation transactional, rolling back incompatible schemas without partial migration.
  • Reject NULL, noninteger, out-of-range and inconsistent stored streaks instead of converting them into writable zero or truncated values.
  • Pin the Paper API dependency and update the optional PlaceholderAPI dependency to 2.12.3. Keep Java 21 compilation and add Gradle wrapper checksum verification.

Updating

Stop the server and back up plugins/PlexKillstreaks/. Replace the old plugin JAR, keeping only one installed copy, and restart with the required Java version. Keep your existing config.yml and data.db; no configuration regeneration or destructive migration is required. Player UUIDs, current/highest streaks, stored names, leaderboard records and unknown extra database columns are preserved.

Validation and limitations

gradlew.bat clean test build succeeded: 90 tests passed, zero failures, errors or skips. The JAR metadata, resources, Java 21 class target and exclusion of dependency/test classes were inspected. Its contents match the smoke-tested artifact.

The listed server checks are smoke tests, not full real-player PvP integration tests. No client sound/action-bar inspection or performance benchmark was performed. Other Paper builds remain unverified; Folia is not supported. The existing exceptional early-event synchronous database fallback can stall the main thread while player data loads. Deprecated sound/API and Gradle warnings remain; no plugin error remained in successful smoke runs.
