Release list
PocketCtrl 1.0.3 for Mac
PocketCtrl 1.0.3 for Mac
What's new
- Optional, supervised OpenAI Computer Use with your own API key stored on the Mac.
- Per-device Computer Use permission, model and thinking-level selection, and estimated API usage costs.
- Task approvals, instruction changes, stopping, and connection-loss recovery when using a compatible updated iPhone or iPad viewer.
- Updated setup, privacy, and security documentation.
Requirements and installation
Requires macOS 15.6 or later. One universal download supports Intel and Apple silicon Macs.
Open the DMG, drag PocketCtrl to Applications, eject the installer, and open PocketCtrl from Applications.
Existing updater-enabled versions can use Check for Updates after this release and its signed feed are published.
Version 1.0 needs a manual installation to gain the updater.
Ordinary remote-desktop pairing and media protocols are unchanged. Computer Use requires an updated viewer with the robot button, an OpenAI API key, and a separate device grant; existing devices do not receive that grant automatically.
Computer Use sends task instructions, screenshots, and limited Accessibility context to OpenAI. API charges apply. Supervise tasks and keep sensitive content closed.
PocketCtrl 1.0.2 for Mac
Improvements
- Avoid triggering Local Network permission during unrelated setup checks.
- Retry failed local media connections and provide clearer recovery guidance.
- Distinguish connected devices from confirmed video delivery.
Download
Download the DMG, quit PocketCtrl, and drag it into Applications. Supports Apple silicon and Intel Macs running macOS 15.6 or later. Compatible with the existing iPhone/iPad app; no iOS update is required.
If macOS blocks local connections despite permission being enabled, turning PocketCtrl off and on under Privacy & Security → Local Network may help. Relaunch or restart the Mac if needed. This release improves recovery but does not claim to fix the underlying macOS permission issue.
Includes a signed update feed for updater-enabled installations.
PocketCtrl 1.0.1 for Mac
PocketCtrl 1.0.1 for Mac
- Check for updates from Settings or the PocketCtrl menu. Future updates can be installed with an automatic relaunch after confirmation.
- Find connection and Tailscale setup help directly in the app.
- Open hosting controls from the connection screen.
- Improved contributor setup, shared Xcode schemes, documentation, and regression checks.
Requires macOS 15.6 or later. One universal download supports Apple silicon and Intel Macs.
Install
Download the DMG, quit PocketCtrl, and drag PocketCtrl into Applications, replacing the previous copy. Eject the installer and reopen the app. Existing settings and pairings are not intentionally reset.
Version 1.0 needs this manual upgrade once to gain the in-app updater. Future updater-enabled releases can use Check for Updates. Installation and relaunch disconnect active sessions.
This is a Mac release; it does not update the iOS App Store app. Existing iOS clients retain the same streaming and pairing protocol. Approve new pairing requests promptly; older clients have shorter waiting limits.
