Summary of Week 6: Enable saving credentials & persisting between runs

Removed support for OS Native TTS (The quality of output was not great)

Fixed Bug with AWS Polly that caused the app to crash on starting.

Modified the UI and logic to persist the keys that are saved.

  • Programmed the app to create a new hidden folder (.keys) that would store all the keys saved
  • Additionally, another file - keyconfig.json keeps track of all the keys registered with the app.
  • Created a menu to be displayed when the app starts or when user selects ‘Change Service’. Using the menu, the users can choose previously saved keys.
  • Added option to add a new key (reused the previous UI and Logic)
  • When adding a new key, user can give a nickname. This will help identify the key later when selecting the service to be used
  • Added option to delete a saved key

Added Logic to check for internet connection when the app starts.

-If there is no internet connection, the app displays an error message and closes.

Bug Fix

  • When using AWS polly, some of the regions listed are not accessible to the service plan of the user. These regions are now filtered out before being displayed to the user.
