Desk2Shell v0.1.0 is the first public developer preview.

It turns a temporary remote-desktop session into temporary, public-key-only SSH access over the user's existing Tailscale network. The release includes the macOS controller, encrypted one-time enrollment, a self-contained Windows Bootstrap, isolated SSH service on port 2222, scoped firewall access, automatic expiry, and explicit revocation.

Requirements:

  • Apple-silicon Mac running macOS 14 or newer
  • Windows 10 22H2 or Windows 11 target
  • Tailscale on the controller and a one-off, non-ephemeral Tailscale Auth Key

Important developer-preview boundary: the macOS app and DMG are Developer ID signed and Apple notarized. The embedded Windows Bootstrap is currently unsigned, so Windows may show Unknown publisher, SmartScreen may require More info → Run anyway, and policy-managed computers may refuse to run it.

This preview has not completed the clean Windows 10/11 field-test matrix documented in the repository.
