OpenNOW PS5 0.1 — Final prerelease

Pre-release

Choose a tag to compare

@Portablelle Portablelle released this 09 Oct 14:17

OpenNOW PS5 0.1

This is the final planned prerelease before a stable release. It packages the
current repository, including the launch-age FTP fix from #1/#2. Public tag
0.1 maps to native content version 00.002.038, title ID PPSA99082.
The version number does not imply new console validation or stable compatibility.

Changes since 0.0.7

  • Create /data/opennow/config for launch-age uploads by FTP processes running
as another user, and repair directory permissions at startup.
  • Keep saved account files in the parent directory, writable only by its owner,
    with owner-only credential file permissions.
  • Read /data/opennow/config/launch-age.txt first. Existing
/data/opennow/launch-age.txt remains supported when the new file is absent.
  • Bound configuration reads, reject symlinks and avoid waiting on FIFO writers.
Invalid configuration still blocks launch rather than inventing an age.
  • Explain the new configuration path and update procedure in the README.

The package retains persistent NVIDIA login, controller-driven catalog search,
video profile selection, virtual keyboard/mouse, Auto / Stereo / 5.1 / 7.1
audio selection, multichannel Opus decoding and adaptive audio buffering.

Validation and limitations

Host streaming and protocol regressions passed with ASan/UBSan. Targeted
persistence/configuration regressions cover old directory migration, restrictive
umasks, preserved login contents and permissions, legacy fallback, invalid ages,
symlinks and FIFO inputs. The native GPU package builds on the Linux VPS and
passes its import audit. Release archives include a per-file manifest and
SHA-256 checksums.

This new build has not been installed or tested on a PS5. The FTP fix still
requires confirmation with the affected server/loader environment. Live surround
negotiation and speaker placement remain pending. Auto checks AudioOut port
capability, not physical speakers or HDMI receiver capabilities; some GFN seats
offer only stereo. Prior FPS/HDR observations do not establish new results for
this package. Native RTSP/NVST transport, a full A/V synchronization clock,
lossless audio and Atmos remain outside this build.

Installation

Download OpenNOW-PS5-0.1.zip, OpenNOW-PS5-0.1.manifest.json and SHA256SUMS.
Verify checksums, close OpenNOW and retain a rollback copy before replacing the
complete PPSA99082 folder through a compatible native homebrew directory loader.
Preserve /data/opennow, which contains your saved login and personal configuration.

Open the updated app once to prepare the configuration directory. Upload
launch-age.txt to /data/opennow/config/, containing your age as an integer
from 0 to 120, and ensure it is readable by the app (for example, mode 0644).
An existing age file at the old path needs no migration unless you want to use
the new FTP location. An invalid new file will not fall back to the old age.

This is a directory package, not a retail PKG. The source archive contains tracked
sources, upstream pins and licenses. Assets exclude personal configuration,
credentials, diagnostics, captures, dumps and proprietary SDK binaries. This
project is unofficial and unaffiliated with Sony or NVIDIA; upstream and
third-party credits and licenses remain included.

OpenNOW PS5 0.0.7

OpenNOW PS5 0.0.7 Pre-release
Pre-release

@Portablelle Portablelle released this 04 Oct 20:33

OpenNOW PS5 0.0.7

This prerelease adds audio format selection, multichannel Opus decoding and
adaptive audio buffering. Tag 0.0.7 maps to native content version
00.002.037, title ID PPSA99082.

Changes

  • Press R2 in the catalog to select Auto, Stereo, 5.1 or 7.1 before launching.
  • Request the selected audio format through CloudMatch; choose the widest valid
WebRTC Opus layout actually offered by GFN, with stereo fallback.
  • Decode explicit multiopus stream/channel mappings and route family-1 speaker
order to the PS5 eight-channel PCM output. Follow negotiated RTP/RED payload IDs.
  • Keep 48 kHz audio and request bitrate ceilings of 256 kb/s stereo, 384 kb/s 5.1
and 510 kb/s 7.1. The server determines the actual bitrate.
  • Adapt the jitter reserve from 20 to 40 ms after starvation, account for packet
duration at startup, bound queue excess and preserve the newest samples.
  • Retain RED recovery, add in-band FEC attempts with PLC fallback, and restart the
audio epoch on large or invalid timestamp gaps.
  • Recover from seats that initially send valid stereo despite describing surround.
  • Report negotiated/requested channels, primary codec bitrate, queue depth,
dropped frames, output errors and recovery counters in private diagnostics.
  • Remove the fixed stereo label from video output information.

Audio selection in the catalog

Validation and limitations

Host regressions passed with ASan/UBSan, including allocation, malformed offer
fallback, channel placement, dynamic RED payloads, queue overflow and re-priming,
and sustained 20 ms packets with 256-frame output grains. The synthetic catalog
preview was visually checked. The native GPU package built on the Linux VPS and
passed its import audit.

The feature build was installed on the console as 00.002.036, with all 32
activated files SHA-256 verified in confirmed raw SELF mode and the complete
previous title tree retained. This release uses 00.002.037 to distinguish it
from 0.0.6. Live audio acceptance, 5.1/7.1 negotiation and speaker placement are
still pending; installation/hash verification is not playback validation.

Auto verifies AudioOut port capability, not physical speakers or HDMI receiver
capabilities. Some GFN seats may offer only stereo on this WebRTC transport.
This release does not add the separate native RTSP/NVST transport, a full
A/V synchronization clock, lossless audio or Atmos. Prior FPS/HDR observations
are unchanged. Virtual keyboard/mouse controls introduced in 0.0.6 remain included.

Installation

Download OpenNOW-PS5-0.0.7.zip, its manifest and SHA256SUMS. Verify checksums,
close OpenNOW and retain a rollback copy before replacing the complete
PPSA99082 folder through a compatible native homebrew directory loader.
Preserve /data/opennow, which contains private login and launch-age data.
This is a directory package, not a retail PKG.

The source archive includes tracked sources, pinned upstream revisions and
licenses. Release assets exclude personal configuration, private console repair
tools, diagnostics, captures, dumps and proprietary SDK binaries.

@Portablelle Portablelle released this 04 Oct 19:50

OpenNOW PS5 0.0.6

This prerelease adds a DualSense virtual mouse and remote keyboard for game
launchers, login screens and menus that require keyboard/mouse input.
Tag 0.0.6 maps to native content version 00.002.036, title ID PPSA99082.

Changes

  • Press the touchpad alone during streaming to toggle virtual mouse mode.
Options + touchpad still stops the stream.
  • Move the pointer with the right stick; hold R2/L2 for left/right clicks and
dragging. Scroll vertically/horizontally with the D-pad. Square cycles three
    pointer speeds.
  • Triangle opens the remote keyboard. It supports lowercase/uppercase letters,
digits, printable ASCII symbols, Enter, Escape, Tab, Backspace, arrow keys,
Shift, Ctrl and Alt on the session's US QWERTY layout.
  • Reuse PS5 control icons for the on-screen shortcuts, with matching touchpad,
    right-stick and trigger symbols.
  • Send native NVIDIA keyboard and mouse packets over the reliable input channel,
including protocol-version envelopes, paired presses/releases and modifier
chords. Request the server-rendered pointer rather than estimating its position.
  • Suppress gamepad input while virtual mode is active. Cancel pending strokes and
    release held keys/buttons on mode changes, controller disconnection and stop;
retry failed releases while the input channel remains available.
  • Mask local typing feedback without keeping or logging a plaintext input string.
Remote launcher fields control their own password masking.
  • Draw controls over software video and native GPU video, with a bounded-luminance
    HDR overlay.

Remote keyboard with PS5 shortcuts

Symbols and special keys

Validation and limitations

Host streaming/protocol regressions passed with ASan/UBSan, including fixed
keyboard/mouse wire fixtures, modifier chords, cancelled input and failed-release
retries. Both keyboard pages were visually checked with synthetic previews.
The native GPU package was built on the Linux VPS and its import audit passed;
the overlay shaders passed GLSL validation.

The feature build was installed on the console with all 32 activated files
SHA-256 verified in confirmed raw SELF transfer mode and the previous complete
title tree retained for rollback. The release increments content metadata to
00.002.036. Launcher input, remote cursor capture and HDR overlay appearance
still require user acceptance on console. No new FPS or HDR playback results are
claimed. USB keyboard/mouse support and a full keyboard/mouse gameplay mapping
are not included.

Installation

Download OpenNOW-PS5-0.0.6.zip, its manifest and SHA256SUMS. Verify checksums,
close OpenNOW and retain a rollback copy before replacing the complete
PPSA99082 folder through a compatible native homebrew directory loader.
Preserve /data/opennow, which contains private login and launch-age data.

tools, diagnostics, captures, dumps and proprietary SDK binaries.

OpenNOW PS5 0.0.5-alpha

Pre-release

Choose a tag to compare

@Portablelle Portablelle released this 04 Oct 19:03

OpenNOW PS5 0.0.5-alpha

This prerelease refines the search keyboard and streaming status labels.
Tag 0.0.5-alpha maps to native content version 00.002.035, title ID PPSA99082.

Changes

  • Remove the extra SPACE button. Keep one space key between - and ., marked
with a space symbol; _ still enters a literal underscore.
  • Group digits in a separate numeric keypad: 123, 456, 789, then 0.
  • Adapt directional navigation to the letter grid and numeric keypad.
  • Reposition the video OUTPUT label so it fits within the screen margins.
  • Show HDR or SDR explicitly on every streaming profile, including QUALITY.
Profiles describe requested settings; OUTPUT describes the detected video output.

Validation and limitations

The keyboard input and navigation regression passed with ASan/UBSan. Search and
output-layout previews were visually checked. The final GPU package was built
on the Linux VPS and its native import audit passed. All 32 installed files were
read back and SHA-256 verified, with the previous title tree retained for rollback.
The latest keyboard and label changes still require user acceptance on the console.
No new streaming performance, sustained 120 FPS or HDR playback results are claimed.

The earlier title-specific launcher background repair remains private and is not
included in this package. Existing installations may require their loader's
supported artwork refresh procedure. Reboot persistence of that private repair
has not been confirmed on the console.

Installation

Download OpenNOW-PS5-0.0.5-alpha.zip, its manifest and SHA256SUMS. Verify
checksums, close OpenNOW and retain a rollback copy before replacing the complete
PPSA99082 folder through a compatible native homebrew directory loader.
Preserve /data/opennow, which contains private login and launch-age data.

tools, diagnostics, captures, dumps and proprietary SDK binaries.

OpenNOW PS5 0.0.4-alpha

Pre-release

Choose a tag to compare

@Portablelle Portablelle released this 04 Oct 18:52

OpenNOW PS5 0.0.4-alpha

This prerelease improves controller hints and search input. Tag 0.0.4-alpha
maps to native content version 00.002.032, title ID PPSA99082.

Changes

  • Replace button names with antialiased outline icons of consistent size.
  • Align icons and action labels in shared columns; remove duplicate hints.
  • Use recognizable direction arrows, D-pad and Options symbols.
  • Make _ enter a literal underscore and give spaces a separate SPACE key.
  • Remove the redundant _ = SPACE legend and support the extra keyboard row.

Validation and limitations

Catalog and search previews were visually checked. The search-input and navigation
regression passed with ASan/UBSan. The GPU build and native import audit passed
on the Linux VPS. All 32 console files were SHA-256 verified, with a complete
rollback copy retained. The user confirmed the revised UI on the PS5.

The console's missing launcher background reference was repaired separately,
with persistent guards tested against reference resets and reinsertion on a
copy of the title database. Console read-back and user confirmation passed;
a full reboot remains unverified. That console-specific repair is not included
in this package. Existing installations may require their loader's supported
artwork refresh procedure. No new streaming performance or HDR results are claimed.

Installation

Download OpenNOW-PS5-0.0.4-alpha.zip, its manifest and SHA256SUMS. Verify
checksums, close OpenNOW and retain a rollback copy before replacing the complete
PPSA99082 folder through a compatible native homebrew directory loader.
Preserve /data/opennow, which contains private login and launch-age data.
This is a directory package, not a retail PKG.

The source archive contains tracked sources, pinned upstream revisions and
licenses. Release assets exclude personal configuration, console diagnostics,
private repair tools and proprietary SDK binaries.

OpenNOW PS5 0.0.3-alpha

Pre-release

Choose a tag to compare

@Portablelle Portablelle released this 04 Oct 18:09

OpenNOW PS5 0.0.3-alpha

This prerelease adds controller-driven catalog search, clearer controls and ALPHA
branding. Public tag 0.0.3-alpha maps to native content version 00.002.030,
title ID PPSA99082.

Changes

  • Fix Square returning HTTP 400: browsing no longer sends an empty search query.
  • Open the full catalog at startup instead of filtering for Minecraft.
  • Show the selected store entry and whether another catalog page is available.
  • Triangle opens a controller-operated search keyboard. Options submits the search;
R1 advances through results and Square returns to the full catalog.
  • L1+R1 together signs out and removes the saved login. Circle in the menu closes
the app while preserving login; Circle in the keyboard cancels text entry.
  • Replace worker-thread exit() with coordinated worker/render shutdown and a
system application-exit request on the main thread.
  • Add visible + glyphs and | separators to the command labels.
  • Add an ALPHA ribbon to the launcher, in-app and README logos. Include the
    selection and launch backgrounds.

Validation and limitations

Synthetic ASan/UBSan authorization, persistence, catalog, search-input, pagination,
streaming and decoder regressions passed. Host previews were visually checked.
The GPU package was built and its native imports audited on the remote Linux host.
All 32 installed files were read back and SHA-256 verified with rollback copies.

The user confirmed the new home-screen logo after a reboot and the background
without another reboot after the existing title's missing background references
were repaired separately. This release does not modify the console's title database
or include that private repair tool. Existing installations may need the loader's
supported artwork refresh or re-registration procedure.

The revised Circle shutdown path still needs live console acceptance. The keyboard
and controls remain a basic prototype. No new streaming FPS or HDR measurements
are claimed; the previous approximately 92 FPS UHD Main10 SDR result is historical.
Broader firmware/loader compatibility, sustained 120 FPS and HDR game streaming
remain unverified.

Installation

Download OpenNOW-PS5-0.0.3-alpha.zip, its manifest and SHA256SUMS. Verify the
checksums, close OpenNOW and retain a rollback copy before replacing the complete
PPSA99082 folder through a compatible native homebrew directory loader.
Keep /data/opennow when updating; it holds private login and launch-age data.
This is a directory package, not a retail PKG.

The source archive includes pinned upstream revisions, build scripts and third-party
licenses. Release assets exclude account data, personal configuration, console logs,
dumps, gameplay captures and proprietary SDK binaries. NVIDIA can require a new
sign-in when renewal credentials expire or are revoked.

OpenNOW PS5 0.0.2-alpha

Pre-release

Choose a tag to compare

@Portablelle Portablelle released this 04 Oct 16:29

OpenNOW PS5 0.0.2-alpha

This prerelease adds persistent NVIDIA login to the native PS5 prototype. Public tag
0.0.2-alpha maps to native content version 00.002.027, title ID PPSA99082.

Changes

  • Save the NVIDIA device identity and login credentials in /data/opennow/account.bin,
outside the installed title folder, for restoration after app closure, console reboot
    and app replacement.
  • Renew credentials automatically using NVIDIA client tokens, with OAuth refresh-token
fallback when available. Preserve the cloud JWT when renewal omits id_token.
  • Keep saved credentials on network outages, rate limits, unexpected HTTP errors and
malformed renewal replies; retry automatically rather than forcing device authorization.
  • Write an owner-only cache through a synchronized temporary file and atomic rename,
using PS5 kernel file APIs. Save rotated credentials before further network requests.
  • Show ACCOUNT SAVED or ACCOUNT NOT SAVED. Circle in the catalog signs out and
removes the saved login; closing through the PS menu and stopping a game keep it.
  • Renew between games so blocking authentication requests do not interrupt live media.
  • Include the updated launcher artwork and repository contributor credits.

Validation

Synthetic ASan/UBSan regressions passed for process restart, device-identity restoration,
renewal and rotation, omitted identity tokens, OAuth fallback, temporary failures,
corrupt caches, failed replacement, cache permissions and explicit sign-out. Existing
streaming, decoder-ownership, protocol and cloud-lifecycle regressions also passed.
The native GPU build and import audit passed on the remote Linux builder.

The native title was installed with a complete rollback copy, and all 31 activated
files were read back and SHA-256 verified in confirmed raw SELF transfer mode.
Installation integrity does not establish successful account restoration on the console.
A fresh sign-in, app relaunch, full console reboot and later app update remain live
acceptance checks for this feature.

The previous 00.002.026 console measurements remain historical evidence for the
unchanged video pipeline: approximately 92 pictures/s for a 4K Main10 SDR stream.
No new FPS or HDR result is claimed for this prerelease.

Installation

Download OpenNOW-PS5-0.0.2-alpha.zip, its manifest and SHA256SUMS. Verify the
checksums, close OpenNOW completely and back up the current title before replacement.
Install the complete PPSA99082 folder through a compatible native homebrew directory
loader. Keep /data/opennow when updating; it holds private account and launch-age data.
This is a directory package, not a retail PKG.

After installing this version, complete NVIDIA device authorization once and check
for ACCOUNT SAVED. Close through the PS menu to preserve the login. See the repository
README for private launch-age configuration, controls and loader requirements.

Known limitations

The UI and catalog navigation remain basic. Real sustained 120 FPS, HDR game streams,
H.264 throughput parity and broader firmware/loader compatibility remain unverified.
Audio is stereo only. NVIDIA may require a new sign-in when renewal credentials expire
or are revoked. The local account cache contains sensitive credentials without encryption;
keep it private and never include /data/opennow in issue reports or release archives.

Source, pinned upstream revisions and build scripts are provided in the tagged repository
and accompanying source archive. No account data, private configuration, gameplay captures,
console dumps, proprietary SDK binaries or firmware modules are included.

OpenNOW PS5 0.0.1-alpha

Pre-release

Choose a tag to compare

@Portablelle Portablelle released this 04 Oct 15:30

OpenNOW PS5 0.0.1-alpha

First public alpha of the native PS5 GeForce NOW client. This is a functional, console-tested prototype, with a rough interface primarily intended to validate authentication, video, audio and input. It is not a finished application.

The release packages development build 00.002.026, title ID PPSA99082, without modifying its tested executable or title files.

Credits: thanks to OpenCloudGaming, the OpenNOW authors and contributors, and the OpenNOW-Switch contributors for the open-source authentication, streaming protocol and transport foundations. This is an independent PS5 prototype, not an official OpenNOW release. Third-party licenses and platform credits are preserved in the repository and package.

Included

  • NVIDIA device authorization, game/store catalog and cloud session lifecycle.
  • Native Videodec2 decoding, full-screen GPU presentation, stereo Opus audio and DualSense input.
  • Qualified asynchronous UHD Main10 decoding with distinct retained input buffers, FIFO picture metadata, safe GPU surface leases and fallback on decoding failure.
  • Fixed-quality native negotiation and selectable 4K120/90 HDR and SDR targets, plus 4K60 HDR and lower-resolution compatibility modes.

Validation

Host ASan/UBSan regressions and the native build/import audit passed. All 29 installed title files were read back and SHA-256 verified. Console startup passed a 32-picture depth-three Main10 qualification across resets and full drain/resume cycles, with sampled luma/chroma equality, FIFO timestamps, GPU imports and a completed flip.

The latest live test received, decoded and drew approximately 92.4 pictures/s at 3840 × 2160 and 51 Mb/s. Cumulative RTP/AU loss, queue drops, decoder resets and API errors remained zero after 19 minutes 30 seconds. The tester reported fluid motion. Application draw counts precede buffer swap and do not independently measure physical screen cadence or end-to-end latency.

Known limitations

  • The tested stream was 10-bit BT.709 SDR, despite requesting HDR. Sustained real 120 FPS and HDR game streaming remain unverified.
  • Requested 90 FPS profiles previously received 60 FPS. Server behavior and game rendering can differ from the selected target.
  • H.264 SDR profiles currently use depth-one decoding and do not inherit the Main10 pipeline's measured throughput improvement.
  • The interface is unfinished and intended mainly for functionality testing; catalog navigation is basic.
  • Account persistence, refresh and broad firmware/loader compatibility are not implemented or validated. Audio is stereo only.
