Mobile POS beta 19 — cloud reconnection

Choose a tag to compare

@sridharkalaibala sridharkalaibala released this 05 Oct 05:57

Mobile POS beta 19 — clear cloud reconnection

  • Reconnect with Posnic Cloud is available in Server settings. It returns to cloud sign-in and browser authorization without asking for a local server password or IP address.
  • The local password form is hidden unless Sign in again to this server is explicitly chosen.
  • Cloud reconnection and Change server stay accessible during background retries. Disconnect waits for the active operation and protects pending sales, unfinished baskets and printing.
  • Includes beta 18 fixes: new cloud authorizations keep the approved internet server; background sync no longer displays the pull-to-refresh spinner.
  • New messages are translated across all 18 supported languages.

Existing devices paired to a local IP are not silently migrated. To reconnect an affected device: More → Connection & sync → Server settings → Reconnect with Posnic Cloud, confirm sign-out when enabled, then Sign in and approve in the browser. Pending sales and unfinished baskets must be resolved before disconnecting.

Install over the existing GitHub APK without uninstalling or clearing app data. Android update signature compatibility is checked by CI. Physical phone testing remains required; Google Play submission stays on hold.

Mobile POS beta 18 — connection and server switching fixes

@sridharkalaibala sridharkalaibala released this 05 Oct 05:41

Mobile POS beta 18 — cloud connection and refresh fix

  • Cloud authorization keeps the approved internet server instead of silently pairing to a nearby Wi-Fi-only till.
  • Background sync no longer displays the pull-to-refresh spinner. Local-only offline connections explain the Wi-Fi requirement.
  • Change server stays available while an old address is retrying. Opening its confirmation pauses further retries; disconnect waits for the current operation to finish and retains protections for pending sales, unfinished baskets and printing.
  • Existing server pairing and unsynced sales are preserved. This update does not automatically migrate a device already paired to an old local IP.

For an existing local pairing whose computer IP changed: More → Connection & sync → Server settings → Change server. Finish or sync pending work before switching. Enter the computer's current address, or choose cloud sign-in for internet access.

Validation: 106 unit tests, typecheck, attribution, formatting and all 44 browser regression tests passed. Native Android compilation and signing compatibility are checked by the linked build. Physical-device reconnect testing remains a pilot check; Google Play submission stays on hold.

Install over the existing GitHub pilot APK. Do not uninstall or clear app data with pending sales.

Mobile POS beta 17 — automatic authorization return

Mobile POS beta 17 — automatic return after authorization

  • Opens account authorization in the native authentication browser and returns to Mobile POS after approval.
  • Exchanges the approved request immediately, while preserving proof-bound token exchange and first-time PIN setup.
  • Handles cancellation and denied or invalid callbacks without treating them as a login.
  • Requires the matching web-api change, now deployed (Posnic/web-api#35).

Validation: 43 local browser regression tests, 15 local server authorization tests and 11 callback tests passed. An additional local browser test signed in to the dedicated live review shop, loaded its products, saved a four-digit PIN, locked and unlocked successfully. No sale was created. Native Android compilation and update-signature compatibility are checked by the Android pilot workflow. Automatic browser-to-app handoff on a physical device and native restart remain unverified.

Install this APK over the previous GitHub pilot build. Do not uninstall or clear app data with unsynced sales. It retains the existing development signing certificate. Google Play review remains on hold.

Posnic Mobile POS 0.3.0-beta.16 — Photo orders

Choose a tag to compare

@sridharkalaibala sridharkalaibala released this 04 Oct 01:49

Photo tools for Mobile POS

  • Separate barcode and photo actions on the selling screen.
  • Photograph or select a product label or single-page order; rotate and trim before reading.
  • On-device printed text recognition with Apple Vision on iPhone and bundled Latin-script ML Kit on Android.
  • Optional online recognition through the shop's POS server, independently enabled under Mobile POS → Photo and paper orders.
  • Explicit product/quantity review using the complete local catalogue; existing prices, ACL and offline grants remain authoritative.
  • Private local draft recovery, expiry cleanup on opening Photo tools, and atomic duplicate-safe cart import.
  • New controls and messages in all 18 existing interface languages.

Online reading requires the POS server change in Posnic/POS#1115 and the existing server OCR configuration. Captain's toggle does not enable Mobile POS. Cloud handwriting currently supports English; Android local OCR reads Latin-script print. Language translations do not imply handwriting support.

This is a pilot release. Review every item, quantity and pack. Multi-page import, automatic cloud retry, customer PO fields and transferring notes/modifiers are not included. Notes must be handled separately through supported selling workflows. New native app installation is required for local OCR; a web update alone is insufficient.

Android uses the existing development signing certificate, consistent with earlier pilot APKs. Do not uninstall or clear app data while sales are waiting to sync. No desktop executable is included in this mobile release.

Mobile POS beta15 — local Wi-Fi product images

Choose a tag to compare

@sridharkalaibala sridharkalaibala released this 01 Oct 04:33

Fix product images when connected to a desktop over local Wi-Fi.

The desktop serves images at /uploads/, while the cloud proxy also supports /api/uploads/. The app now falls back to the desktop path when the API upload returns 404, and caches the downloaded image for offline use. Cloud image loading remains unchanged.

Verified against the running desktop and covered by cache/offline regression tests. 82 unit tests, 41 browser tests and Android ARM64 release build passed. Please confirm display on your phone.

Install the APK over your existing beta. No desktop update needed. Includes the server-selection and item-list scroll fixes from beta13/beta14. Android app only.

Mobile POS beta14 — keep your place while adding items

Choose a tag to compare

@sridharkalaibala sridharkalaibala released this 01 Oct 04:27

Fix: adding an item no longer jumps the product list back to the top.

The item grid now stays in place when the basket updates. Verified with repeated additions near the bottom of both the full catalogue and Favourites. Search, category and favourite-filter changes continue to refresh results.

Verified: 80 unit tests, 41 browser tests, typecheck, formatting, attribution and Android ARM64 release build. Please confirm the fix on your phone.

Install this APK over your existing beta. Includes the beta13 server-selection improvements. Android app only; no desktop installer.

Mobile POS beta13 — choose your server, then sign in

Choose a tag to compare

@sridharkalaibala sridharkalaibala released this 01 Oct 04:19

Choose your shop server first, then sign in.

  • Wi-Fi results now have a server icon, Use this server action and arrow.
  • Username/password and pairing fields appear only after selecting a server.
  • The sign-in screen identifies the selected server. Change server returns to selection and clears the password.
  • Manual addresses are checked before continuing. QR and pairing remain available.
  • Simplified setup layout and all 18 languages updated.

Verified: 80 unit tests, 39 browser tests, 24 real-server integration tests and Android ARM64 release build. LAN UI test uses simulated network responses; please confirm discovery on your phone and shop Wi-Fi.

Install the APK over your existing beta. This release contains only the Android app, checksums and build manifest.

Mobile POS 0.3.0-beta.9 — mockup completion and offline favourites

Choose a tag to compare

@sridharkalaibala sridharkalaibala released this 30 Sep 19:14

Completes the approved mockup audit with persistent, cashier/branch-specific favourites and accurate full-catalogue thumbnail readiness.

Install the Android APK over beta8 without clearing app data. Android versionCode 18. Compatible with POS 1.8.5-beta.6. Desktop installers are distributed separately; existing beta6 desktop installations do not need reinstalling.

  • Small star controls never add a sale line. Favourites survive restart and work offline with search/categories.
  • All new controls translated across 18 supported languages.
  • Included MOCKUP-CHECKLIST.md covers both approved galleries and linked screens, including desktop settings.
  • 74 mobile unit tests, 36 browser tests, and 23 real mobile/POS integration tests pass.

This is a pilot prerelease: Android uses the existing development certificate. Physical hardware qualification is still required. Card acquiring and provider-verified UPI remain explicitly unavailable, as indicated in the prototypes. Read TEST-GUIDE.md before shop testing.

Independent offline counter beta 8 — weighed-item sales

Choose a tag to compare

@sridharkalaibala sridharkalaibala released this 30 Sep 18:57

Android 0.3.0-beta.8 with matching Windows 1.8.5-beta.6. Install over the previous APK to keep local records.

All nine approved offline screen journeys are implemented. This update adds entered quantities for weighed items: select or scan a configured weight-based item, enter up to three decimals in its selling unit, then take payment normally. The basket can edit quantities under the existing void permission. Printed and server receipts carry the unit. The server validates precision against the issuing grant and repeated uploads keep one sale and one stock movement. Old clients remain blocked from weighed items; open-price items also remain blocked until the explicit price-entry contract is available.

Includes indexed offline catalogue browsing/scanning, atomic paged activation, persistent images, direct Android Bluetooth/USB ESC/POS, optional printer-connected drawer, durable print recovery, bounded receipt history, server receipt search, PIN/ACL, 18 languages and explicit downstream cloud receipt evidence.

Validation: 73 mobile unit tests, 34 browser scenarios, 23 real mobile/POS integration cases, 11,585 API tests (13 skipped), 3,639 desktop tests (5 skipped), plus 20 updated kitchen-label checks. Android version/signature and Windows payload/source hashes verified. See TEST-GUIDE.md and BUILD-MANIFEST.json for the exact tested scope.

Cloud receipt labels require gateway protocol 1 and signed sync component 1.7.3 on an assigned beta cloud tenant. Community installations retain server-only acknowledgment. Receipt confirmation does not claim all stock collections are synchronized or enable independent-ledger failover.

Pilot artifacts: Android arm64 with the existing development certificate, Windows unsigned. Physical printer/drawer qualification remains necessary. Entered weight is not a weighing-machine driver. iOS direct adapters, provider-confirmed electronic payments, modifiers/variants, discounts, refunds and split tender remain separate roadmap work.

Independent offline counter beta 7 — indexed catalogue

Choose a tag to compare

@sridharkalaibala sridharkalaibala released this 30 Sep 18:24

Android 0.3.0-beta.7 and matching Windows 1.8.5-beta.5 for the independent offline counter pilot. Install over the previous APK to retain local data.

All nine approved offline screen journeys are implemented. Includes offline cash selling, cached branch items/images, direct Android Bluetooth/USB ESC/POS printing, controlled drawer pulse, durable print recovery, protected receipt retention, older-receipt search, PIN/ACL, 18 languages, and explicit cloud receipt evidence.

This update removes full-catalogue allocations from paged-server activation and normal product browsing. Android uses a transactional SQLite index, showing 48 products at a time while barcode/code lookup searches all saved items. Missing/duplicate pages or failed writes preserve the previous catalogue and grant. Image data is retained in the UI only for the visible page. A product changed during refresh must be selected again; old held/paid prices remain intact.

Validation: 71 mobile unit tests, 33 browser tests and 22 real mobile/POS integration cases pass. Includes 10,017-item migration, lookup, Unicode search and atomic activation failures. Matching POS/gateway checks and build hashes are recorded in BUILD-MANIFEST.json. TEST-GUIDE.md maps the nine designs to real screens and gives offline/reconnect/printing test steps.

Cloud receipt confirmation requires gateway protocol 1 and signed sync component 1.7.3 on the beta channel. Only assigned beta cloud tenants receive it; community installs remain server-only. This confirms sale delivery, not completion of every stock collection or independent-ledger failover.

Pilot distribution: Android arm64, existing development certificate; Windows unsigned. Physical printers and terminals still need shop testing. iOS direct adapters, provider card authorization and richer item options are future roadmap phases, not claimed as complete by this release.
