Posnic v1.6.2

This release improves restaurant ordering, kitchen alerts and printing, and the day-to-day checkout experience.

What changed

  • Receipts and bills: clearer totals and currency symbols, the shop's logo and footer, and scannable QR codes. Printer changes take effect on the next bill, print results are easier to see, and unnecessary paper feeding has been reduced.
  • Kitchen service: separate bell and voice controls, clearer order notes and quantities, and more reliable printing of cancellations, including during a busy service.
  • Tables and Captain App: easier additions to an existing order, longer-lived waiter sign-ins, waiter day summaries, and controls for viewing and disabling paired handsets. Paid tables leave the open floor correctly.
  • Customer ordering: clearer menus, dish options and extras, coupons, and improvements to takeaway, delivery and table ordering.
  • Reports and checkout: PDF, CSV and Excel report exports, improved item selection and settings, and fixes to payment amounts, login reliability and saved preferences.

Updating

Close the till before installing. Install over the existing copy; do not uninstall first. Posnic keeps local shop data when installed over the previous version. Check your receipt printer and kitchen alerts before the next trading session.

Downloads and verification

  • Windows downloads include an installer and a portable build, signed and timestamped with the BillMax certificate.
  • macOS downloads cover Intel and Apple silicon. The release workflow checks signing and notarization.
  • Linux downloads include AppImage, Debian and Snap packages. The signed APT repository is at https://packages.posnic.com.
  • Check downloaded packages against SHA256SUMS.txt. Package inventories are provided in matching .cdx.json files. Verification instructions: https://github.com/Posnic/POS/blob/v1.6.2/docs/VERIFY_RELEASE.md.
  • GitHub build provenance is provided for the macOS and Linux packages and their inventories. Windows packages use the existing local signing process and do not carry GitHub build provenance.
  • macOS and Linux were built from the unchanged v1.6.2 application tag using the corrected release workflow at 7ba57b5d. Provenance identifies that workflow commit; the inventories record application source d358ae00b5671ea4e7e6768a64c97749a187f914.

Posnic remains free and open source under AGPL-3.0-only, with separately licensed bundled components. Posnic Cloud is an optional paid service.
