@PotterProgrammer PotterProgrammer released this 28 May 19:15

This release of Scheduler is a minor update to allow schedule edits to mark certain slots as unfilled. In our church this was used when, as a result of other things going on, Communion was not going to held on a certain Sunday, and so no Communion assistants were needed on that date.

@PotterProgrammer PotterProgrammer released this 17 May 00:23

This is the initial release of Scheduler--a program to schedule volunteers for weekly tasks. The software is written in the Perl language and is freely available to the public. I initially wrote it for my church to take the place of a more complicated online scheduling service that was charging our church a monthly fee. My hope is that it will find a home in other churches as well.

The software can run on a Windows PC, or a Linux PC, but can also run as a standalone service on a Raspberry Pi (a computer about the size of a deck of cards that sells for about $50). We are running it on a Raspberry Pi at our church. The software is set to run as a web service that can be accessed from a PC, tablet, or phone. When connected to the internet, it allows volunteers to receive notices and reminders of when they are scheduled to serve, and allows them to update their own information and availability.
