• Historical events from selected collections are merged, de-duplicated and sorted chronologically.

This public beta displays sourced regional historical events alongside an individual’s life facts in webtrees.

Features

• Includes historical datasets for 19 regions and countries.
• Lets visitors select a historical region independently of the website language.
• Provides an optional History selector in the site header.
• Provides a tree-homepage region selector block.
• Filters historical events to the individual’s lifetime.
• Correctly handles historical ranges that overlap a person’s lifetime.
• Limits events when no death date is recorded.
• Optionally displays the person’s age at each historical event.
• Provides a source link for every bundled historical event.
• Stores administration settings in webtrees so upgrades do not overwrite them.
• Supports keyboard navigation in the global History selector.

Installation

Download the attached potts_historical_facts-1.1.0-beta.1.zip file.

Extract it and upload the potts_historical_facts folder to:

modules_v4/potts_historical_facts

Enable the module through the webtrees Control panel, then open its settings to choose the default region and optional features.

• webtrees 2.2.x
• PHP 8.3 or later
