🎉 Perplexity AI v1.8 - Enhanced UI & Native Dark Mode

We're excited to release version 1.8 with major UI improvements, better notifications, and more reliable dark mode!

✨ What's New

Dedicated Settings Dialog

  • Clean, organized settings panel accessible via toolbar or Tools → Perplexity AI
  • Simplified toolbar with essential controls only
  • Better user experience with less clutter

Smart Notifications

  • Get instant feedback when sending code to Perplexity
  • Success notifications show line count (e.g., "Code sent to Perplexity (15 lines)")
  • Error notifications with helpful diagnostics when something fails
  • Clear error messages guide you on how to fix issues

Zoom Controls

  • New +/- buttons in toolbar for easy zoom adjustment
  • Zoom level persists across IDE restarts
  • Quick reset to 100% with dedicated button

🔧 Improvements

Native Dark Mode

  • Completely rewritten dark mode implementation using matchMedia override
  • More reliable - works at the browser engine level
  • Persists across all page loads and navigation
  • No more flickering or reverting to light theme

Better Error Handling

  • "Send to Perplexity" action now provides detailed error diagnostics
  • Clear messages when tool window isn't open or browser isn't ready
  • Helpful hints about editor focus requirements

Windows Compatibility

  • Fixed JCEF initialization issues on Windows 10/11
  • Better timing for browser component loading
  • More stable off-screen rendering mode

🐛 Bug Fixes

  • Fixed dark mode not persisting across page reloads
  • Fixed context menu "Send to Perplexity" not appearing sometimes
  • Fixed JCEF initialization race conditions on Windows
  • Fixed plugin.xml configuration issues

🔄 Changes

  • Changed keyboard shortcut from Ctrl+Alt+P to Ctrl+Shift+P (less conflicts)
  • Removed deprecated projectListeners configuration

📝 Known Limitations

  • Scroll Speed: Mouse wheel scrolling may feel slower than native browsers. This is a known JCEF limitation with off-screen rendering (required for Windows) and cannot be fixed at the plugin level.
