- Choose between the avionics bay or crew bay
- Take note that DCY has a split flap on the earth-facing side of the vehicle to allow for roll control during reentry
- There are two engine layouts to chose from, either a single aerospike, or 8 conventional engines, 4 of which are sea-level variants, with the rest being bimodal variants.
- You might have to increase
Mass-Strength Multipler %to 2 if your are using FAR with RSS

I will only be talking about how to fly it with Realism Overhaul, Real Solar System and Ferram Aerospace Research.
Highly recommended to use MechJeb and Atmosphere Autopilot
- Prepare your flaps. Check the image below to see the recommended values. Please note that the split flap requires
BrakeRudder %to be about 50 or above to allow for proper yaw control. Once done, deploy your flaps. Also for some reason FAR likes to make the flap deployment inverted. If that happens to you in flight, click the flap and go to Flp/Splr and invert the value

- If using MechJeb, use Smart A.S.S and set SVEL+ with a pitch of 5°. Let MechJeb hold this attitude until about 70km. You might want to transfer all the fuel to the main tank assuming you are almost empty.
- Once below 70km, switch to Atmosphere Autopilot and disable MechJeb Smart A.S.S. Open the Atmosphere Autopilot module manager and switch to AoA-hold controller. Set AoA to 5° and not more.
- When below 60km, disable RCS. Hopefully you are stable.
DCY in stable descent
- Keep this setting until you are approaching Mach 1. Once below Mach 1 disable Atmosphere Autopilot and enable MechJeb and set it to SVEL- (or UP). Retract the flaps. This maneuver will not be elegant in the slightest
- If you are having trouble flipping, enable RCS and move all the fuel to the main tank.
- Land in one piece
