cync_lan (Home Assistant custom_component) v2.12.0
Two experimental entities that had never appeared for anyone now do. The
dimmer-LED level bar (a number entity) and the dimmer-LED mode selector were
both created only for a device satisfying is_dimmable and not is_light -
and no device type can. Dimmable switches deliberately report is_light True
so they land on the light platform and keep their brightness slider, while
is_dimmable was gated to LIGHT-classified types, so the two halves of that
condition excluded each other. Checked against all 157 known device types:
zero matches.
If you have a Cync dimmer switch with experimental features on, you should
see those two controls for the first time. They remain experimental - the
command shape behind them is predicted, not confirmed on hardware.
The condition now asks is_dimmer_switch, which means what the comment
beside it always claimed ("the level bar exists on dimmer switches, not
binary ones") and matches 11 real device types.
Worth saying how it survived: the test covering these entities built its
device with is_dimmable=True, is_light=False - a combination no real device
can have. The gate was proven to work using a device that cannot be bought.
That fixture now describes a real dimmer switch, and a new test asserts it
still matches something in the device map.
Requires cync-lan 0.12.0, where the classification logic both this
integration and cync_ble need now lives in one place instead of two copies
that had already drifted apart on 13 device types.
