UEVR AFW v1.0-beta.6

Choose a tag to compare

@PureDark PureDark released this 13 Aug 09:16

*AFW: Alternate Frame Warping
In short it's a new rendering method that can probably boost the performance in VR for about 60-80%.

There could be minor glitches/artifacts, don't report those, just decide whether it's worth the gains.

It also uses about 500mb extra VRAM, so make sure you have enough VRAM for it or it might just lag to single digits.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Always aim for the refresh rate, if you can't hit 90, you set the refresh rate to 72hz and aim for 72 fps.
When the fps can't hit the refresh rate, nothing can look good, you can combine AFW with SSW/ASW/Motion Smoothing, but only recommended for 120+ hz headsets so that at least the engine fps can hit 60.

Changlog

Beta 6

  1. Catching up with upstream (nightly 1139 and latest joeyhodge), thus fixed the memory leak with some new UE titles.
  2. Fixed velocity buffer not found in Halo: Campaign Evolved
  3. Added a shading rate option for Combined Warping, can gain even more performance when you just need the extra boost to reach stable 72 fps.

Installation

1.Launch the game and turn on DLSS/DLAA.
2.Use it just the same as UEVR nightly.
3.When Injecting, you can't select AFW cuz it's not an option in the injector, select AFW in the menu after.
4.Always tick the Ghosting Fix, without it AFW doesn't have good results (while still works)

NOTE 1: Only supports DX12 games! Use -dx12 in the launch parameters.

NOTE 2: If you changed DLSS quality levels, or made any resolution changes, you need to restart the game or AFW might not work correctly.

NOTE 3: There are two versions below, one is based on UEVR-nightly, the other one is based on joeyhodge's fork which has many fixes for newer UE games using UE 5.5-5.8. Use whichever one the profile tells you to use.
When using joeyhodge-based version, tick both Ghosting Fix and Boostrap.
And if the Gosting Fix fails in the joeyhodge-based version, you can't use AFW in this game until joeyhodge fixes it.

NOTE 4: In some first person game, there could be a double vision on the arms/weapons if not using a script in the profile to fix it.
The found and fixed games are:

  1. A Quiet Place
  2. Atomic Heart
  3. Ghostwire Tokyo
  4. Ready or not (but can be fixed by setting weapon fov in the settings)
  5. Oblivion

Just use update the profiles for these games and the first person arms/weapons issue should be fixed.

There are some pre-defined hotkey for debugging
Keypad 6: Toggle AFW Debug View, when it's on you will see color tints on moving objects.

There's only one way to confirm whether AFW is working correctly, and that is to

Tick both Ghosting Fix and Enable Debug Framewarp, and only the moving objects are colored in green tint!
If the whole image gets green tint, it's not working correctly, and you report back.
