@QingyaoAi QingyaoAi released this 19 Sep 14:07

First release of To Do MCP: a macOS menu-bar app and MCP server that let AI agents (Claude Code, Codex CLI, Claude Desktop, Cursor, Gemini CLI, and any other MCP client) read and edit your Microsoft To Do.

Download

To-Do-MCP-0.1.0-macos-arm64.dmg: macOS 13 or later, Apple Silicon (M1 or newer).

  1. Open the DMG and drag To Do MCP onto the Applications shortcut.
  2. Open it from Applications.
  3. Click the checklist icon in the menu bar → Sign In…, then Connect to Agent.

⚠️ The app is not signed by Apple

It's free and open source, but not signed or notarized by Apple (that needs a paid developer account). So the first time you open it, macOS says "Apple could not verify 'To Do MCP' is free of malware". To open it anyway (once):

  • System Settings: click Done on that message, open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll to Security, click Open Anyway next to "To Do MCP", confirm with your password or Touch ID, and click Open Anyway again. On macOS 15 and later, right-click → Open no longer skips this.
  • Or Terminal: xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/To Do MCP.app", then open it normally.

Only do this for a copy downloaded from this page or built from this repository. The DMG includes READ ME FIRST.txt with the same steps.

SHA-256 of the DMG, to check your download: 82c8684bb541ea694fef7252708de748a4f0fc81f6d64ac157aea68d93eaaea1
(shasum -a 256 ~/Downloads/To-Do-MCP-0.1.0-macos-arm64.dmg)

What's inside

  • Menu-bar app: Microsoft sign-in (the code is copied and the page opens for you), daily sign-in renewal and expiry notifications, one-click Connect to Agent, Install Skill for Claude Code and Codex, and Launch at Login. It bundles its own Python, so nothing else needs installing.
  • MCP server with 12 tools: lists, tasks, steps (subtasks), notes, due dates, reminders, importance, and finishing, reopening and deleting tasks. The server's instructions teach any agent to find tasks before editing, ask when a name is ambiguous, and treat deletes as permanent.
  • Agent skill (ms-todo) with fuller usage guidance for agents that load skills.

Sign-in uses Microsoft's public "Microsoft Graph Command Line Tools" app, so no Azure setup is needed. Your sign-in stays on your Mac in ~/.config/mstodo-mcp.

Not supported yet: editing repeat rules, attachment files, and "My Day". Intel Macs: build from source with scripts/build-app.sh, or use the source install in the README.
