Action required

1. Cache entry type mismatch 🐞 Bug ≡ Correctness
Description
queryCache is declared as Map<string, PartialRelated> but stores {data,timestamp} objects, which
violates the Map’s value type under strict TypeScript and can break the build.
Code

lib/agents/query-suggestor.tsx[R8-15]

+// OPTIMIZATION: Cache for recent queries to avoid redundant API calls
+const queryCache = new Map<string, PartialRelated>();
+const CACHE_TTL = 5 * 60 * 1000; // 5 minutes
+
+interface CacheEntry {
+  data: PartialRelated;
+  timestamp: number;
+}
Evidence
The Map generic is PartialRelated, but set() writes a CacheEntry-like object. With "strict": true,
this is a compile-time type error.

lib/agents/query-suggestor.tsx[8-15]
lib/agents/query-suggestor.tsx[84-88]
tsconfig.json[1-40]

Agent prompt
The issue below was found during a code review. Follow the provided context and guidance below and implement a solution

### Issue description
`queryCache` is typed as `Map<string, PartialRelated>` but code stores `{ data, timestamp }` objects.

### Issue Context
TypeScript is in `strict` mode, so this mismatch can fail compilation.

### Fix Focus Areas
- lib/agents/query-suggestor.tsx[8-16]
- lib/agents/query-suggestor.tsx[84-88]

### Suggested fix
- Change declaration to `const queryCache = new Map<string, CacheEntry>()`.
- Remove the unsafe cast on `get()` and let inference work (`const cachedEntry = queryCache.get(cacheKey)`), updating types accordingly.

2. Cross-request cache collisions 🐞 Bug ⛨ Security
Description
getCacheKey() collapses any non-string message content into the constant "[complex content]",
creating cache-key collisions (especially for image/array content) and the module-scoped cache can
serve cached results across requests/users.
Code

lib/agents/query-suggestor.tsx[R17-24]

+function getCacheKey(messages: CoreMessage[]): string {
+ // Create a simple hash of the last few messages to use as cache key
+  const recentMessages = messages.slice(-3);
+  return JSON.stringify(recentMessages.map(m => ({
+    role: m.role,
+    content: typeof m.content === 'string' ? m.content : '[complex content]'
+  })));
+}
Evidence
The cache key intentionally discards non-string message content, which makes distinct requests map
to the same cache entry. Because the cache is module-scoped, those collisions can return another
request’s cached related queries.

lib/agents/query-suggestor.tsx[8-24]
app/actions.tsx[75-90]
app/actions.tsx[148-151]

Agent prompt
The issue below was found during a code review. Follow the provided context and guidance below and implement a solution

### Issue description
`getCacheKey()` replaces all non-string `message.content` with a constant, causing cache collisions. Additionally, `queryCache` is module-scoped so cached data can be reused across requests/users.

### Issue Context
Resolution search and other flows use `CoreMessage['content']` arrays (e.g., text+image parts). Those currently hash to the same placeholder, making cached related queries incorrect and potentially cross-user.

### Fix Focus Areas
- lib/agents/query-suggestor.tsx[8-24]
- app/actions.tsx[75-90]
- app/actions.tsx[148-151]

### Suggested fix
- Scope cache to a chat/session identifier (e.g., add `chatId` param to `querySuggestor()` and use nested maps keyed by chatId), OR remove module-level caching.
- Improve keying:
 - Serialize message content deterministically instead of substituting `"[complex content]"`.
 - For array content, include the text parts and a stable placeholder for images (or a hash of sanitized content).
 - Consider hashing the serialized key to limit memory usage.
- If safe keying/scoping can’t be guaranteed, disable caching when messages include non-string content.

3. Stale related stream output 🐞 Bug ≡ Correctness
Description
Throttling can skip the last partial object update, and the stream is then completed without an
unconditional final update, so the UI can render outdated related queries.
Code

lib/agents/query-suggestor.tsx[R66-83]

+ // OPTIMIZATION: Stream updates but batch them to reduce re-render frequency
+  let lastUpdateTime = Date.now();
+  const UPDATE_THROTTLE = 200; // ms
+
  for await (const obj of result.partialObjectStream) {
    if (obj && typeof obj === 'object' && 'items' in obj) {
-      objectStream.update(obj as PartialRelated)
+      const now = Date.now();
+ // Only update UI if enough time has passed since last update
+      if (now - lastUpdateTime > UPDATE_THROTTLE) {
+        objectStream.update(obj as PartialRelated)
+        lastUpdateTime = now;
+      }
      finalRelatedQueries = obj as PartialRelated
    }
  }

  objectStream.done()
+
Evidence
objectStream.update() is conditional on the 200ms throttle, but there is no guaranteed final update
after the loop before done(). If the final partial arrives within the throttle window, the UI won’t
receive the final items.

lib/agents/query-suggestor.tsx[66-83]

Agent prompt
The issue below was found during a code review. Follow the provided context and guidance below and implement a solution

### Issue description
The throttling logic can prevent the last partial object from being sent to the UI stream.

### Issue Context
`finalRelatedQueries` is updated on every partial, but `objectStream.update()` is throttled and may not run for the last partial before `objectStream.done()`.

### Fix Focus Areas
- lib/agents/query-suggestor.tsx[66-83]

### Suggested fix
- After the `for await` loop, unconditionally call `objectStream.update(finalRelatedQueries)` (guarded if it has items), then call `objectStream.done()`.
- Optionally: initialize `lastUpdateTime = 0` so the first partial always updates, and use `>=` for the throttle comparison.

4. Invalid timezone can crash 🐞 Bug ☼ Reliability
Description
resolutionSearch calls toLocaleString with a user-provided timezone without validation; an invalid
timezone string can throw and fail the server action.
Code

lib/agents/resolution-search.tsx[R101-107]

+  const now = new Date();
+
+ // OPTIMIZATION: Format local time with timezone context
+  const localTime = now.toLocaleString('en-US', {
    timeZone: timezone,
    hour: '2-digit',
    minute: '2-digit',
Evidence
timezone is sourced directly from formData and passed into toLocaleString({ timeZone }) which can
throw a RangeError for invalid time zones, aborting the request.

lib/agents/resolution-search.tsx[100-113]
app/actions.tsx[53-60]

Agent prompt
The issue below was found during a code review. Follow the provided context and guidance below and implement a solution

### Issue description
`toLocaleString` can throw when `timeZone` is invalid, and `timezone` is user-controlled.

### Issue Context
The timezone is read from `formData` and passed into `resolutionSearch()`.

### Fix Focus Areas
- lib/agents/resolution-search.tsx[100-113]
- app/actions.tsx[53-60]

### Suggested fix
- Wrap time formatting in try/catch; on error, log and fall back to `'UTC'`.
- Consider validating timezone early (server-side) and normalizing to a safe value before calling `resolutionSearch()`.

5. Zero coords skip geocoding 🐞 Bug ≡ Correctness
Description
The new reverse-geocoding/news block is guarded by if (location?.lat && location?.lng), which
skips valid coordinates when either value is 0.
Code

lib/agents/resolution-search.tsx[R119-134]

+  if (location?.lat && location?.lng) {
+    try {
+      locationName = await getReverseGeocode(location.lat, location.lng);
+
+ // OPTIMIZATION: Fetch news in parallel with AI analysis
+      const newsData = await fetchLocationNews(locationName, timezone);
+
+      if (newsData.hasRecentNews && newsData.newsItems.length > 0) {
+        newsContext = `\n\nRecent News for ${locationName}:\n${newsData.newsItems
+          .map((item: any) => `- ${item.title}: ${item.summary}`)
+          .join('\n')}`;
+      }
+    } catch (error) {
+      console.error('Error processing location:', error)
+    }
+  }
Evidence
JavaScript truthiness treats 0 as false. Since actions parse latitude/longitude numerically,
{lat:0,lng:...} is a valid location that will bypass the feature logic.

lib/agents/resolution-search.tsx[115-134]
app/actions.tsx[57-60]

Agent prompt
The issue below was found during a code review. Follow the provided context and guidance below and implement a solution

### Issue description
The condition `if (location?.lat && location?.lng)` incorrectly treats `0` coordinates as missing.

### Issue Context
Coordinates come from `parseFloat` and can legitimately be 0.

### Fix Focus Areas
- lib/agents/resolution-search.tsx[115-134]

### Suggested fix
- Replace with an explicit check, e.g.:
 - `if (location && Number.isFinite(location.lat) && Number.isFinite(location.lng)) { ... }`
 - or `if (location?.lat != null && location?.lng != null) { ... }` (and optionally validate numeric).
