📦 How to Update (Portable Version)

To update to v1.2.8 without losing your chats, custom prompts, and vector databases, follow these exact steps:

  1. Fully close your current version of the application.
  2. Open your current application folder and locate the storage folder (this contains all your local data).
  3. Copy the storage folder to a safe location (e.g., your Desktop).
  4. Download and extract the new AnythingLLM-Desktop-v1.2.8-Portable.zip archive.
  5. Move your backed-up storage folder into the newly extracted folder, overwriting the default empty one.
  6. Launch the new Main.exe and pick up exactly where you left off.
