Cutscenes in sync and a steadier Springfield hub.

Install or update with the installer page: https://r-drg.github.io/the-simpsons-game-nx-installer/. Already installed? Press Create the-simpsons-game-nx-update.zip and extract it over your folder (it replaces simpsons.toml; note any setting you changed first).

  • Cutscenes no longer slow down or fall behind their audio. The game decoded its VP6 movies with its own decoder, which took a whole CPU core on the Switch and could not keep up. FFmpeg's VP6 decoder now decodes them (setting movie_decoder).
  • Fewer drops in the Springfield hub. Frames that ran a little late got extra background streaming work and turned into 50 ms frames (24–27 FPS). A late frame now gives that work at most 2 ms (setting late_frame_task_ms; raise it if you see pop-in).

Same requirements as before: the USA retail disc, title takeover mode, and sys-clk at CPU 1785 MHz / GPU 768 MHz (handheld) for 30 FPS. Details in docs/known-issues.md.

The Simpsons Game (Xbox 360) on Nintendo Switch, first release.

Install with the installer page: https://r-drg.github.io/the-simpsons-game-nx-installer/. It takes your own disc image or extracted game, checks it, and builds the zip for sdmc:/switch/ in your browser. The game's files never leave your computer.

  • Supported: the USA retail disc (default.xex SHA-256 71d99dad…a82a231).
  • Launch in title takeover mode: hold R while starting any installed game, then open The Simpsons Game from the Homebrew Menu. Applet mode (Album) doesn't have enough memory.
  • 30 FPS needs sys-clk at CPU 1785 MHz / GPU 768 MHz (handheld). At stock clocks the game runs at about 19 FPS and cutscene audio gets ahead of the picture. Keep switch_gpu_mhz = 0 in simpsons.toml when sys-clk is installed.

Known issues: scenes with heavy particle effects can dip to 26–28 FPS, and there can be a short hitch the first time an effect appears. See docs/known-issues.md.
