This release includes the following key changes as well as numerous other less major changes that are noted in the documentation and in the change logs:
-
Addition of BUGSRAD and RTE+RRTMGP radiation schemes. RRTM considers all hydrometeor and aerosol categories/types.
-
Updated cloud droplet nucleation lookup tables that consider pre-existing droplets when determining nucleation of new droplets from activated aerosols. These tables also permit very small ultrafine aerosol particles with high number concentration.
-
Addition of large scale forcing options.
-
New options for high compression of variables in LITE files via (a) decimal truncation method (see ITRUNCLITE variable in RAMSIN namelist doc) and/or (b) ZFP compression method (see include.mk to enable and ACC_LT_VAR variable in RAMSIN namelist doc).
-
New aggregation rates of ice crystals to better agree with observations of high level cirrus anvil clouds.
-
Extra aerosol mode seen in RAMSIN via the CCN3_MAX variable. The flag IAEROSOL can be 0,1,2,3 depending on the number of sulfate type aerosol modes you need. These can be any chosen reasonable size and are not tied to CCN or GCCN sizes as was done in past versions.
