Performance fixes and maintenance improvements:

  • Add Python 3.14 fix. Python 3.14+ changed the default multiprocessing start method from "fork" to "spawn" on POSIX. This causes massive slowdowns (13 times) due to pickling overhead.
  • Add better exit handling when no files found
  • Add mypy type hints to fastcov.py for improved maintainability
