Castline v1.2.0
Highlights
A guided walkthrough on first launch. New installs are now asked whether they'd like a quick tour, and get a 12-step walkthrough of the library, {{variables}}, profiles, webhooks and quick-find. Most steps advance when you actually do the thing rather than on a Next click — and every step can be skipped or the whole tour exited at any point. Replay it any time from Settings → Replay the tutorial.
The tour describes the item that's really on your screen, so it won't tell you to fill in blanks a template doesn't have.
Every item can be read, not just filled. Items without {{variables}} only ever showed a Copy button — the only way to read one was the edit pencil, which is invisible until you hover the card. There's now a View button on every item (Fill when it has blanks), and clicking a card opens it too.
The Agent tab can find Claude Code when it isn't on your PATH. It previously looked only at your PATH, so it reported "Claude Code not found" whenever the binary sat somewhere that PATH didn't cover — the native installer's ~/.local/bin/claude.exe being a common case. Microsoft Store installs are launched by Windows and are the likeliest to inherit a PATH missing your own additions, which is where this showed up.
Fixed
- The Agent tab now falls back to checking where the common installers actually put
claude, preferring a native install over an npm shim. - You can point Castline at a specific
claudebinary — from the Agent tab, or Settings → AI agent (Claude Code). That option was previously advertised but didn't exist. - The Agent tab's empty state now leads with the likelier explanation (Castline doesn't ship Claude Code — it runs the copy you install), and can show full diagnostics you can copy into a bug report.
- Items whose only token is
{{today}}or{{now}}no longer count as "no variables" for the purposes of being readable. - The preview window no longer says "Fill & copy" when there's nothing to fill.
Notes
- Your existing install won't be greeted with the welcome prompt — only a genuine first run sees it.
- The walkthrough runs in full-card density and hands your view setting back when it finishes.
- The Microsoft Store build of this version is submitted separately and will appear once certified.

First launch
These builds are not code-signed, so the OS asks once before running them:
- Windows — SmartScreen shows "Windows protected your PC".
Click More info → Run anyway. For an install with no warning at all,
get Castline from the Microsoft Store instead. - macOS — Gatekeeper says the developer can't be verified.
Right-click the app → Open, then confirm.
Verify your download against SHA256SUMS.txt (attached) if you'd like to
confirm the file is exactly what CI built.
